Classic excuses for poor Owls players - peiowl - 27-02-2015
We have had some pretty shabby players on the team roster over the years haven't we? In my day, of course, that was not the case. All the players were absolutely superb.
But, alas, times have changed. I think of players like the underwhelming Franny Jeffers, the truculent twit Bothroyd, the hapless JOC, Sid the Kid, unimpressive Akpo Sodje, balsa boy Chris Sedgwick, and of course man about town Nile Ranger.
There may be others I've left out of this not so illustrious lineup.
Who are they??
And what are the classic excuses that managers and fans have used to cover for these under-performers??
I'll give peiowl ratings for selections to the list and classic excuses. Out of 5 badgers.
I'll start the ball rolling with, you've guessed it, Thurny's idol
the one and only Atti Nuhiu, however you spell it. "He holds the ball up well"
"He's still our best striker"
"They have to put 2 men on him"
"He's from a different country"
Now you get the idea. The first one is a cliche, not funny. Second one is daft. Third one same as first. Last one very funny. I would give it 5 badgers but must leave some room for growth
I've adopted badgers for myself until someone claims them as coming from him. Then, I'll gladly relinquish them. I know who made excuses 2 and 4, so I'll put you guys in the league.

I really can't be arsed to argue the toss about dropping our top goal scorer with PEI
it's worse than trying to argue with the wife she just keeps coming back with more 'woman' logic that just leaves you dumbfounded All I will say is that nobody else has exactly stepped up to the plate and forced him out of the team with a plethora of goals have they

ok. I give 2 badgers to maddix for using a baseball cliche "stepped up to the plate" and 1 to thurny for his ventriloquist's dummy comment "exactly" (really only worth half a badger).

I wouldn't want to disagree with you PEI
because you'll be like a dog with a bone with it for the next two years or so but 'stepped up to the plate' is a phrase that I first heard used in Rugby League although I've never watched Mens Rounders so I could be wrong

Hit the nail on the head, bullseye, spot on, hole in one, home run, whatever other phrase or cliche you care to pick!!!
Until someone else steps up from the current squad or we buy/loan someone better, then Nuhiu is about as good as we have, and therefore will play!!! Yes, its a sad indictment of the quality of the season our forwards have had!!!
