Town head down to Wycombe on Saturday to a normally happy hunting ground as they try to get their season back on track. When I did this thread back in January, it was a rearranged match and Town were in what was to become the back end of an unbeaten run and almost within touching distance of the top two after a brain fart of a month earlier in the season. Duff Duff, Town's Head Coach for most of last season, before he was cut off at the knees when over half of his squad, instead of being told to play for another contract were told to go find another job at the end of January, is now in charge at Wycombe, taking over from Mike Dodds who had taken over from Matt Bloomfield in January after Bloomfield left to try and rescue Luton from a 2nd relegation.

Dodds inherited a Wycombe side in 2nd place but he couldn't keep them in the top 2, slipping to 5th with 3 defeats at the end of the season and they were eventually beaten by Charlton in the play-offs. After a poor start to the season Dodds was relieved of his duties last month and Duff Duff has taken over. Luton's mediocre start to the season has seen Bloomfield back on the manager-go-round this month as he's been replaced by former Arsenal favourite Jack Wilshire. Well, at least we know he's available.

"The away end at The Addams Family Park is situated in the WhiffAway Stand" at one end of the pitch. Cue your own comment regarding Town's current form.

Morticia says train tickets from Brum Moor Street (or for you guys darn sarf from Marylebone) on the Chiltern line are cheap as chips. The only problem is the stadium is about as far away from the station as you can get in Wycombe, it's somewhere north of a 2 mile hike, so you might want to try and find a bus that goes somewhere near or get a cab.

Special mention from me to Adnan Ahmed, who although born in Burnley and recruited by Town from Man Utd's Academy he became, as far as I'm aware, our first player of South Asian descent and was certainly the first Town player to play internationally for Pakistan. He made 41 appearances for Town between 2003-2007 before moving on to Tranmere Rovers and then Ferencváros.

Wycombe are charging a quid a kid in all area's for this game but I doubt I'd get away with it at my age.

Out Injured/Suspended/Isolating

Gomez has said Jack Whatmough will need a bit longer than initially had been hoped to return from his calf injury, and remains sidelined.
Murray Wallace is currently out with an ankle injury he picked up against Harrogate.
Will Alves (foot), Herbie Kane (groin) and Zepiqueno Redmond (knee) are all long-term absentees.

Back training but not oven ready/Back in the frame

Mickel Miller returned from a lengthy lay-off with a hamstring injury against Bolton last Thursday night and got 15 minutes from the bench.
Bojan Radulovic missed out against Bolton with a knock but is hoped to be in contention to return this weekend.
Antony Evans is training but is still being monitored and carefully managed ahead of his return to action from a knee injury.Marcus McGuane is past ‘'the most complicated part’ of his recovery from a groin injury and is building back up his fitness on the training pitch, but is unlikely to be available this weekend.

Last time out

In front of a global TV audience, Town dragged defeat from the jaws of victory as they failed to see out 6 minutes of added time against Bolton.

Wycombe went to Blackpool and returned with 1 more point than Town managed to get, equalising in the 12th minute of added time after going behind almost from the 2nd half kick-off.

In the other league games last weekend, Cardiff went back to the top with a 2:1 win after Stevenage lost at Lincoln who went 6th and Bradford could only draw at home to Barnsley. Wimbledon and Stockport beat Plymouth and Exeter to go 4th and 5th. Town and Bolton swapped places.

Pish Posh won at Burton to get to two points behind them and dropped Blackpool to the bottom spot. Those defeats for Exeter and Plymouth leaves them wrapped around the trap door on 13 points, but with 4 teams on 13 and 3 more on 14 you can go from Orient in 14th to Burton in 22nd with only 2 points separating them.

Table

Duff Duff has Wycombe on a 3 game unbeaten run which has lifted them out of the relegation spots. They are 18th, 6 points and 10 places below Town.

More folk getting appointed than sacked this week. Harry Potter has been appointed manager of the Swedish national side, Sean Dyche (formerly of the Parishes of Burnley and Goodison Park) has taken over from The Angel of the Southern Hemisphere at Forest. Oh how their fans will just love Dyche-ball. Ian Evatt has taken over from Brucie at Blackpool and nearly got off to a winning start but ...... Wycombe eh?

In addition to Bloomfield going down the road and leaving for Luton, leading scorer Richard Kone was plundered by QPR. Not sure how Transfermarkt picks the Top Arrivals on their website but you might have thought they'd have mentioned Jamie Mullins who came in from Brighton for something north of £100,000.

With Kone's 21 goals having gone sarf, Sam Bell currently leads their list with 3 out of a total of 15. Not that we're doing much better.

They can't all win

Cardiff go to Bolton in an early kick off game for the tellybox. Stevenage are home to Bradford, so they can't both go top, the Wombles are at home to The Brewers, Stockport go to Port Vale for some 'Monday Night Football' in The Potteries.

Exeter played Plymouth last night in a tellybox game that Exeter won 2-0. All my stats ignore this game, I'm not doing them again, but let's just say Exeter are now 16th and leave it at that. Other than being a local derby, that I didn't watch, I can only think the tellybox guys picked it so the Exeter fans could chant "you soft southern barsteward" at "injured" Plymouth players and Plymouth fans could chant "you dirty northern barstewards" at Exeter players committing fouls on live TV. The bottom two also play each other as Pish Posh welcome Blackpool, so with Burton mentioned above that's the bottom 5 sorted.

We've played 'em before

Wycombe did the double over us the first season we met, including the first ever League Match in our current abode, but we haven't lost at Wycombe since.

Next up

Town are at Bolton in the FA Cup R1 followed by an EFL Trophy game at home to Mansfield.

Just watching the Exeter v Plymouth Gargoyle game. Plymouth look terrible. Seems like another lifetime ago since they beat us on opening day when we had Mr Warnock in charge.

Sod it, I'll try wasting a few more hours of my life again tomorrow.

This site beggars belief at times with how things disappear. Snoots even replied to it this time so it's not me hitting the wrong button.

All I did was go to add a few lines to the end of my post. When I hit "Update" all that was there was the update. Everything else I'd worked on for hours had disappeared. You have to wonder why you bother. Complete and utter bag of crap at times this website, or whoever hosts it. Yes, I'm annoyed!!

I doubt it Snoots, clicking on the Back button on my browser didn't bring it back up last night and I couldn't recover it from History. There's possibly a version hidden away in those files Microsoft would rather you don't try to access but I can't be bothered looking. I'm about to drop another draft in to the first post and then work on it so the post might come up a bit all over the place for the next hour or so until I get it presentable again. Apparently I can't save it again as a draft, only if I do it as a reply.

Sorted - I'm not touching it anymore, even to fix typo's. It took a whole bottle of Wine Time Thursday for the original that disappeared, thankfully I can enjoy the 2nd half of Wine Time Friday in peace.

Well, I could have gone for a round of golf, but keeping you guys entertained is more fun given the way I play golf. Laugh

Thanks all, I tell lies, I've fixed a few things and swapped the first Howard Jones YouTube for an OGWT version. Whistling Bob Harris might be proud and that 2nd one was the wrong'un so I've fixed that too. On top of that I'd have got soaked as well as having a crap game of golf.
