Who Owns Football? - Arcane Astral Aeons - 14-10-2025

hello you lot
aint posted a thread on here in a while

hope your all well

point of this post is thus

have fallen out with football...i don`t attend games i don`t watch it on t.v either
all i do these days are look at the results on a saturday

football aint football as i used to view it

everything was fine until sky decided to monopolise it
anyone remember all games kicked off at 3.00pm on a saturday?

the game was fine till they took over
sending west brom up to middlesbrough a few weeks back on a friday night!!!
stupid subscription fees
and most of the time all they show are the likes of city, united, liverpool etc etc

they dont care about genuine fans any longer....but did they ever?
them,they...it  are bleeding football dry
pricing fans out of attending games
stupid kick off times

all they are bothered about is money
not the real fans

AAA,

I totally agree, I have felt this way pretty much since Liverpool, arsenal and man ure forced the breakaway so they could profit, they split English football and created the greed league, this has become greedier and greedier with everything set up for a few to succeed. Every change made by the FA benefits the rich list with their noses in the trough.
I love the Albion, will always love the Albion but hate modern football and all it’s become. England currently playing, it’s live on itv, am I watching, you bet your bottom dollar I am not. Don’t watch the FA cup final anymore, it used to be can’t miss viewing, barely watched the last two euros or the World Cup.
Real fans, real clubs are being fleeced, people no longer watch, follow or support their local clubs.

Modern football in the main is crap, rarely watch TV games, going back a considerable amount of years would have been all over every bit of football information

TV has ruined it, by the way could say the same about cricket as well

Forgot to add 12.30 kick offs they are sending Norwich to Deepdale for one the dinner time games

Totally agree. Modern football is rubbish, with VAR being the final nail in it's coffin.

Sky OWN football (to answer AAA's question).
I've been saying this on here for years: Sky subscribers are effectively to blame - so CANCEL YOUR SUBS if you've got Sky......it's YOUR fault!

RE: Who Owns Football? - Lord Snooty - 15-10-2025

I think we're well past the point of it all being Sky to blame. There are countless others to blame now.

International break go back to the old days play them all on one day

While I agree with the sentiment of broadcasters and greedy owners taking over football, I have to say I watch more English football now than I ever have!! Every PL game is on tv over here and a ton of EFL games as well, I cherish my Saturday and Sunday mornings where me and the son-in-law sit and watch 3 games at a time on a nice set-up we have with 3 large TVs. I think it probably helps that I am not flooded with news etc from the likes of Sky 24/7, I can pick and choose when I catch up on it as there is no real media coverage of the English game over here.

SCO

Whereas we have wall to wall saturation media coverage

Let me be clear I don't like the way Sky has taken control over our national game either, but to play devils advocate, blaming Sky for the demise of football, is like blaming online shopping for the demise of the high street shops. No one made anyone take out a Sky Sports subscription, anymore than they made people shop on Amazon and the likes. Also the Premier League/F.A must take a some of the blame, they are the ones who sell the rights (to the highest bidder) and they are the ones who refuse to allow 3.00 p.m games to be televised, meaning more games are moved away from that timeslot, even though I think many would be anyway to fill scheduling times.

Sky offered a service and people paid for it. Just like Amazon offered products on line and people purchased from them, rather than traveling to the high street to buy their items. The results of both are plain to see and anticipate, but that is what the people chose. In case you are wondering, not me I might add, I don't have Sky Sports.
