The Addicks v The Terriers
Saturday 28th February 2015
3 PM
at The Valley

[Image: ValleyCharltonAthleticaerialview_2828389.jpg]

Charlton played at The Valley from 1919, apart from one year in the 20s when they played in Catford, until 1985 when they had to leave due to ground restrictions following the Bradford fire. They ground-shared with Crystal Palace from then on until 1992 when they returned to a reconstructed Valley.

The Valley in the 80s

Of our League meetings, Charlton have 34 wins to our 29 and 18 draws. We took the lead in our last match in August with a goal from Nahki Wells only for Igor Vetokele to equalise in the 90th minute.  Doh Also, Murray Wallace was sent off that day.

The only celebrity fan I can find is Jim Davidson.

Gemma Gibbons was born in Charlton who you may remember as someone we followed the fortunes of in the Olympics. She competes in Judo. She would make a much more respectable celebrity fan but can't find any leanings that way!

That's our feisty Brit on the left

Charlton's former manager (and I believe the football league's longest running manager at the time) was our own Chris Powell. Our last meeting was just before he was appointed Town manager. Hopefully he will have something to prove to the owners. Charlton is managed by Guy Luzon these days, perhaps a more bizarre appointment than David Hockaday was at Leeds???!!

Anyway, as you'll have gathered, this is an emergency thread due to lack of interest.
I trust you will find it as uninteresting as you did my last one.  Whistle
Hence the lack of effort on my part.  Tongue

RE: Charlton Athletic v Huddersfield Town - MNTerrier - 26-02-2015

this is a very winnable game , and one can only imagine that Powell will be wanting to put one over on the owners after the way he was shown the door

i think i would be inclined to stay with the same team as tuesday, maybe start Vaughan and wells thought with later on

RE: Charlton Athletic v Huddersfield Town - Lord Snooty - 26-02-2015

I think Scans will be starting. He more or less said so on the pitch at half time.

RE: Charlton Athletic v Huddersfield Town - WakeyTerrier - 26-02-2015

Kelvin MacKenzie who helped to launch talksport is a big Charlton fans.

Despite Tuesday's win I can see changes ahead for this one, I think we'll see the return of Coady and Vaughan.

Bit of local info, if you need a pub then the Antigallican is just outside the train station down the hill about 50yrds on the other side of the road. This is a away pub and due to Town taking at least 1800 it is likely to be very very busy.
If you don't fancy the crowds then exit the station turn left down the hill to the lights, turn right and follow your nose until you find the Rose of Denmark, again though this is likely to be busy.
For those heading from London then you could always jump off the train at Maze Hill and head for the Vandburgh, this is where the Southern supporters group are meeting for a Q&A with ex chairman David Taylor. This station is only 2 stops from Charlton.
Failing all that you can always have a mooch around Greenwich, be warned though this place is usually very busy and very expensive due to the amount of tourists....did I mention it's usuallly expensive Wink

Reports coming out now of a couple being caught shagging on Charlton's pitch. Lol.

Celebrity fans: Rodney Trotter's mum.

Must have been "Sex Addicks"  Big Grin

RE: Charlton Athletic v Huddersfield Town - theo_luddite - 26-02-2015

Good to see the Charlton fans will be out to give Powell the welcome back he deserves. Hope his whippet and ferrets don't get frightened by all the noise.
Thanks to the combined generosity of Charlton and Mr. Branson, I'll be heading back 1st Class after the match, well it was only £10 more than baggage class and you get fed and watered to boot. Thumb up

London Bridge Station is still being tarted up a bit. Looks like no trains to/from Charing Cross but you should be OK from Cannon Street according to the tfl website planner. Otherwise use the Tube to get to London Bridge - loads of trains to Charlton from there.

For those like me who will be supping north of the river, Covent Garden Tube stn is exit only and there are no Tube trains on Circle or District lines west of Embankment to/from Gloucester Rd/Earls Ct/Kensington.

Looking forward to a grand day out.

You'll have an awfully long walk unless you turn LEFT at the lights, not right.

RE: Charlton Athletic v Huddersfield Town - WakeyTerrier - 26-02-2015

My mistake folks.....that's a LEFT at the traffic lights
