Two comebacks, the second more impressive than the first, marked an Easter weekend that wasn't stellar by our current high standards but kept our unbeaten run going, and - most crucially of all - kept the points tally ticking up as the matches remaining column ticks down.

All the same, we could do with a return to winning ways this week as we venture up to Stoke tomorrow. It would have seemed incredible 10-15 years ago, but winless against us in the last three league encounters and having lost three of the last four meetings at the Britannia, we have a claim to be Stoke's bogey team right now. Nevertheless, they stayed unbeaten over Easter, and so far this spring have lifted themselves out of immediate relegation danger with a couple of wins; they're not safe yet by any means, so we can't count on any complacency from Steve Schumacher's men. But with Kipre likely to make a return for Albion, hopefully we'll see a good competitive game between the sides.

Rotherham then visit next Wednesday for the last evening kick-off of the regular season, and with only four wins all season (one of those admittedly on Easter Monday), no away victories, no points on the road since January and not even a goal on their travels since February, there can really be no excuse for not putting the Millers to the sword. They may already be mathematically relegated by the time the match kicks off - it's certainly a foregone conclusion in all realistic terms - and though we all know Albion's form with banana skins, it's the home stretch now and we've got a job to do. Four points is the target from these if six is too much to ask.

Ska'd, your last sentence is very poignant - I'd really be looking at all 6 points from these 2 games.
I'm absolutely sure this is what we'll get Confused

Momentum is important as we head towards the play offs. Maximum points is what we demand. COYB

Stoke being Stoke and April being April (when relegation-threatened teams tend to suddenly wake up), I just don't think anything can be taken for granted up in Staffordshire Zoo today, but our mentality should definitely be to aim for two wins.

Half time - loosing the possession count but leading 1-0 thanks to super, super Mike, super, super Mike, super Mikey Johnston.
Job not done by a long way but if we can have one of our improved second half’s, who knows. Thumb up Thumb up Thumb up

Other scores not currently what we want, Thumb down Thumb down Thumb down Norwich won, Coventry, Hull winning.
But do our job, keep winning and we will be there.

Come on you Baggies!

Goooooooaaaaaaaaallllllllllll!!!!
2-0. Wallace

Squeaky bum time ….. 2-1. And under the cosh a little

Penalty - Stoke saved by Palmer but nets the rebound. 2-2. Fingertips - clinging on.

Another draw.

Becoming a bad habit, only two points clear of Norwich, on paper an easier run in,
Six clear of Coventry, they have a game in hand but have to play the saints, the tractor boys and the tigers.
We still have to play Leicester and Preston.

Will we throw it away again like last year.
Need a win to steady the nerves, roll on Rotherham, already relegated, nothing to play for, what could go wrong.

TWO PONTS FROM OUR LAST TWO GAMES IS SCARY. Cool

We were 2-0 up at Stoke and what happened, we let it slip and it finished 2-2. That's also scary. Dodgy

Norwich and Coventry are looking good, and I cannot see Southampton not finishing in the top six - so again scary with Coventry having a game in hand.

SPARE A THOUGHT FOR WALSALL - THEY ARE PLAYING THEMSELVES INTO A PLAY OFF POSITION HAVING BEATEN 2ND PLACE TRANMERE TODAY 3-1 AWAY..

RE: Stoke & Rotherham vs WBA - Match Thread - 4evaabaggie - 06-04-2024

We blew it against vile in the semi-final two years ago, we blew it last year dropping points in the run in to finish three points short. This year? Who knows, start biting them nails folks, it’s gonna be a scary ride

Let's move on to the next game, an away point is more then we deserved. But a few more twists and turns to go yet. Let's keep the faith.

Blue,

I always keep the faith, just pointing out the obvious, we probably still need six points, that would mean Coventry would need thirteen from six.

The last few seasons we have faded and dropped points in the last few fixtures, the pattern seems to be repeating itself, nine unbeaten but five including the last three have been draws. The gap has closed and we need a win to boost our confidence. We can’t buy a clean sheet at the moment making things more difficult for ourselves.

Things may look rosier on Thursday, Coventry are away to the Saints on Tuesday and a home win against Rotherham on Wednesday could reopen a nine point gap.

Come on you Baggies, Albion til I die.
