WBA vs Middlesbrough - Match Thread - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 25-08-2023 A point at Elland Road, though perhaps fortunate, was nevertheless highly welcome. And so back to the Hawthorns tomorrow, where in Corberan's tenure we've taken more Championship home points than any team in the same period except Burnley, and look to bag more against currently winless Middlesbrough. If we were less than convincing against Swansea a fortnight ago, it's still a relief to know that we're capable of scrapping out a win on home turf when needed, and more of the same is in order. Four of our five goals this season have been from set-pieces, while Boro have conceded two of their last three from corners, so it's a recipe for goalmouth scrambles and royal rumbles in the box; however they come, they all count. Even allowing for the probability that we're not aiming for the stars this season, it would still be concerning not to get a win this weekend, so fingers crossed that Carlos the worker of miracles can keep those loaves and fishes coming. RE: WBA vs Middlesbrough - Match Thread - drewks - 25-08-2023 Nothing more to say! RE: WBA vs Middlesbrough - Match Thread - Blue Baggie - 26-08-2023 3 points is 3 points. Any should be welcomed with open arms. With points come confidence. RE: WBA vs Middlesbrough - Match Thread - talkSAFT - 26-08-2023 1-0 22 mins (Kipre) 2-0 28 mins (Swift) 2-1 30 mins 3-1 BT-A 47 mins RE: WBA vs Middlesbrough - Match Thread - talkSAFT - 26-08-2023 Oh-oh 3-2 84 mins (Swansea deja vu) Phew! 4-2 Sarmiento 89 mins RE: WBA vs Middlesbrough - Match Thread - Minizin - 26-08-2023 We’ve played 3 of last year’s top 10 and a relegated team, 7 points from 4, 9 goals and our new striker has hardly played. Surely it’s time for people to be more positive believe we’re not in a relegation battle? Though we do need to do something about the defence RE: WBA vs Middlesbrough - Match Thread - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 27-08-2023 If we keep up this home form a dogfight will be out of the question, which'll be a relief. But yeah, our flimsy defence (we did our level best to keep a pretty shoddy ten-man Boro side well in the game during the second half) is the main obstacle to any unqualified enthusiasm from me at this stage of the season, closely followed by the wafer-thin depth of our squad. Pleased to see us score a couple from open play, though; BTA and Kipre also kept cool heads and took their chances when poor Boro defending handed it to them on a plate. We won't get birthday treats like that every week, but when we do, they need putting away. Can't ask for more on that front, and three points is, as always, job done. RE: WBA vs Middlesbrough - Match Thread - 4evaabaggie - 27-08-2023 Last season we had 14 points from our first eighteen, yes that's 18 games, we have Severn from four so far, we only just missed out last year, let's hope for more points on the board to give us a fighting chance. Even in a marathon you can't give people a two mile head start. All the teams we have played so far were there or there abouts last time out apart from Leeds, they were greed league, so currently I am reasonably pleased but still not expecting much. Come you baggies, do as you normally do and surprise me ...... But please, please, please a good surprise this year not the shocking surprise of last year. RE: WBA vs Middlesbrough - Match Thread - valpayne - 29-08-2023 ignoring the games till they're done is working out for me. when we lose as we did at blackburn its a quick burst of disappointment as opposed to a long drawn out painful afternoon and when we win or draw at leeds is a welcome pleasant surprise. although I nearly shot myself in the foot with the boro game when I dared to check at 4.55 pm forgetting the new rules means there's about 20 minutes of ET per game these days It was 3-2 at that point so after quickly shutting it down I had a rare and strange premonition that not only would boro not equalise but we would actually win 4-2 ![]() |
