Formations ptX - turkeydinner - 23-01-2015

I think weve never heard so much about formations than this year, forget everything else its all been about formations

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/11363986/Man-Utd-news-Which-formation-should-Louis-van-Gaal-use.html

traditional 4-4-2 dosent work with the players we have, simple as, it did work so well in the past but we had absolute workhorses in midfield unless Felliani/Blind is your starting midfield I couldnt see it working and it may lack some creativity through the centre and possibly be a bit one dimensional on the wings despite the talent on show there ADM/AZ

As well as the Telegraph have done with the article its still very UK minded theres tons more formations to use 3-4-3 for example(as LVG did at the WC), or Argentina who used 4-2-2-2 or Barcelona had used before 2-3-3-2

Why the rigidity so much? Why not 4-3-3 in attack and 4-5-1 in defence? Real Madrid play 4-4-2 going forward and 4-3-3 in defence

No mention of 4-2-3-1 which Man Utd have used this season a few times, Arsenal at times play an awesome variation of this with the three attacking mids/wingers in a total free role

I`m hoping LVG is teaching the team about total football and interchangeable roles, rigidity wont work, this year weve seen players try different roles and I do believe its a positive way forward
