Carlos Corberan - BaggieSteve - 05-02-2023 Is it just me or are other fellow members praying for a few Leeds wins. After today’s defeat at Forest, I feel Marsche’s days are numbered and, if that is the case, I fear Leeds will make a huge play for Corberan. It may be I’m overly anxious but it would be typical Albion to finally appoint a on excellent manager, only to lose him in a matter of months. Can anyone provide some comfort on this? RE: Carlos Corberan - drewks - 05-02-2023 Steve, I can never, NEVER pray for a few Leeds wins RE: Carlos Corberan - 4evaabaggie - 06-02-2023 Steve, I feel your pain but like drewks I can't pray, wish for or even slightly hope for any kind of Leeds success. What I will pray for is for King Carlos to be given a new contract with a 300 million pound release clause and a two year can't work in England clause. I’ll be honest, I fear the worst RE: Carlos Corberan - Slick_Footwork - 06-02-2023 Looks like Marsch has just been sacked. I think it could go either way in terms of Leeds coming in for him... He's definitely someone they will be discussing. There would be logic to the move. He's known to the clubs hierarchy and well respected at the club, if we believe what's been in the press. He had an instant impact with us, which is very much something Leeds need. On the other side of the coin, he's relatively inexperienced as a coach in general and didn't do well in his "big" job at Olympiacos. In fact, he did dreadfully. I'm not sure how much experience he has working with big name players and even how close he really was to the first team picture during his time at Leeds. Given Leeds have spent an absolute fortune on players this year, you feel they might want to continue spending on a big name manager who has experience working with top internationals. I think what it comes down to in the end, is if he is really well respected at Leeds or if it is just paper talk... Personally I'd be gutted to see him go, as he's the first manager we've had for ages that just understands how to play players in their best roles. I don't think our squad is good enough for promotion this season, but if he did go, you would always be asking "what if" he stayed. But if Leeds do come in for him, there's no doubt he'll go. Personally after watching them, I think it's going to be a really tough job to keep Leeds up. But having said that, I'm not sure that would put him off given the situation here. Where if we don't go up this season, which is unlikely, we're probably going to be in a right financial mess and not have a penny to spend in the summer. So I'm hoping they decide that they need an experienced coach. But it certainly wouldn't surprise me if they came in for Corberan, especially if they can't find any big names to take the job. RE: Carlos Corberan - Devongone - 06-02-2023 Unfortunately winning games in front of a crowd rightly demonstrating its dislike of the club's ownership is surely likely to make an impact on your manager. On the other hand he must be aware the American and German influence within the Leeds team is not likely to be happy with this sacking. Looking at the Leeds squad it looks like a daft move and the only way that they could get themselves relegated. At Olympiacos Carlos took over a very odd situation because surely he was simply being lined up to take over from Steve Cooper when he inevitably failed at Forest. But that all changed as soon as Carlos started losing and suddenly the Fat Man began singing that Cooper was the future and here was even more money. Perhaps Carlos might have learned to hold what he has, but he has to be a target. Leeds want quick results, which is exactly what he provided. RE: Carlos Corberan - Salopbaggie - 06-02-2023 CC now 6/4 favourite to get the Leeds job, but we will see, the compensation would be pretty high I would think, but Lai would be thinking MONEY. Can anyone educate me? Are managers contracts similar to players in the respect of the club must be approached first and asked for permission to talk to the manager? If they are why would we not be giving a two word answer the second of which would be, 'off'. RE: Carlos Corberan - Lord Snooty - 06-02-2023 Surely not! Four clubs in just over six months? Must be some kind of record if he goes.
