Play off chase - harrogatebaggie - 17-12-2022 Before todays game we are 8 points from a play off place with a game in hand with no difference in goal difference. If you are super optimistic we are 15 points from automatic promotion, with a game in hand, but also 16 goals behind in goal difference. For those pessimists we are 2 points above the relegation zone have a game in hand and are 11 goals ahead on goal difference. See where we are after this round of results! RE: Play off chase - harrogatebaggie - 20-12-2022 This weekends update prior to us playing our game in hand on Wednesday. After a resounding 3 nil win at home to Rotherham. This moves us up 1 place to 16th, but we are now in the thick of it with lots of teams around us in the league on similar points. We are now 5 points from a play off place plus the game in hand with a 4 goal advantage in goal difference. For those who look higher than that we are still 15 points from automatic promotion, plus the game in hand, but we have reduced the goal difference to 14 behind. For the pessimists who think this is just a flash in a pan, we are 5 points above relegation plus a game in hand with a 13 goal advantage. So after Carlos and his players putting an amazing run of results together, we can say we are closer to the play offs than relegation finally. Still a long way to go and the next game will take us to the half way point. I think the match on Wednesday at one of coventry’s many homes, will be a test as they have momentum like us. In CC I am starting to believe. COYB. RE: Play off chase - 4evaabaggie - 20-12-2022 Harrogate, a good post, surprised no-one has commented, I have been very disillusioned with football since the implementation of the greed league and all the changes that favour the FA's elite gentleman's club of six. I became further disenfranchised with our continued employment of football's Jurassic managers, we have had nearly all of them, King Carlos of West Bromwich has re awoken a spark of interest and a huge splattering of hope. I even considered going to the game on Saturday but I am still recovering from illness so that tipped the balance. My hope tells me the top six will all have bad spells and that a top two finish is still our target, my expectations may plummet if our run ends badly. In King Carlos we trust, up the table we will go, a good result tomorrow will really set up Christmas. The league are starting to fear the on rushing storm that is The Albion. Albion til I die RE: Play off chase - Dingle-Dingle - 20-12-2022 15 Points is nothing. Remember the Alamo, sorry Dingle collapse. DD#No1 ![]() ![]() RE: Play off chase - 4evaabaggie - 20-12-2022 DD, Remember it well, mentioned it on another thread, 11 points behind 2nd March 02, 3 points clear end of season. Same again please. ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: Play off chase - Salopbaggie - 20-12-2022 Well we know we are a club who like to set records from being in bottom position in the league. I wonder if any team has ever been bottom as late in the season as we were and go on to be promoted as Champions?? ![]() RE: Play off chase - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 20-12-2022 (20-12-2022, 14:27)Salopbaggie Wrote: Well we know we are a club who like to set records from being in bottom position in the league. Before the weekend I did cast a glance over the two most memorable Championship turnarounds I can remember: Palace in 2003-04 and Reading in 2011-12. Palace were never lower than 20th that year, but did have fewer points than we do at the equivalent point in the season, and went on to be promoted through the playoffs after finishing 6th. Reading were 23rd after six games in 2011, but began their recovery a few weeks earlier than us; they had 33 points at this stage, putting them 7th, and finished as champions. Money talks. RE: Play off chase - Dingle-Dingle - 21-12-2022 Just checked the tble. A win tonight against Coventry will put the baggies into 8Th place. DD#No1 ![]() ![]() RE: Play off chase - harrogatebaggie - 23-12-2022 Game in hand update We played our game in hand against a strong Coventry side, losing 1 - 0 to a late penalty. The win streak has come to an end, but before CC was appointed, if you had said he would win 5 and lose 2 of his first 7 games, we would have taken that all day long, We are still 16th but in the pack. 5 points from the play offs with a better goal difference. And 5 points above the relegation zone also with a better goal difference. 10 points from the top play off spot, again we also have a better goal difference. Which at the moment is something we can realistically aim for. At least until Sheffield Utd or Burnley self destruct! A merry Christmas to all our readers and look forward to tracking the baggies rise from the ashes, first stop Bristol City. |
