Forgotten Yorkshire - Amelia Chaffinch - 17-01-2015

I liked this article in the Examiner about abandoned buildings in Yorkshire.

I'm fascinated by abandoned buildings. It's no surprise with mills but when I see a house or cottage like that, it makes me wonder how one minute they are occupied and then are for whatever reason (the fascinating bit) left to decay. Empty hospitals and churches are spooky.

Used to love playing in old derelict buildings when I was a kid. We called them bomb sites. Not sure if they were actual relics from the war or not. Probably not. The old Woodkirk station and the Vinegar Mill on Grange Road were victims of the economy rather than the Luftwaffe.
Used to love walking through the old disused railway tunnel near us as well. Spooky.

Love derelict football grounds; if I get the train out of Woolwich, there's the patch where the old Manor Ground, home of Arsenal, used to be.

In Yorkshire, there's some beautiful urban decay; used to go out with a mate photographing it.
