Torquay - SaltergateBorn - 13-11-2022 I`ve been expecting to see a report from you, Dev. Did you not go? From what I`ve seen on the highlights, they were five quality finishes. A sign of things to come, I hope. RE: Torquay - Devongone - 14-11-2022 I did not go. I didn't even realise we were playing them till almost the last minute as regards getting a ticket. Then I thought, well I can do what I've done before and end up with Torquay fans ......... but then I read on their website that were I caught cheering or supporting the opposition I'd be slung out. So, I missed it and yes particularly Uchuegbulam's goal looked brilliant, but at least his name gave Jeff Stelling, who wasn't wearing his lenses plenty of trouble on Sky Sports. Going to football now seems to be a complex process. I liked just turning up and paying. I like opposition fans. I'm not much on apartheid. What have we become that someone thinking or supporting something different is offensive and upsetting to our sensibilities - let's kill him ......... ? But I should have just gone and sat there quietly and lapped it up. Regrets I've had a few. And this is one. 1-5 I didn't see that coming, but I wish we hadn't done it to Aaron Downes. RE: Torquay - SaltergateBorn - 15-11-2022 I`m afraid it`s the old, old story Dev; the behaviour of a few idiots makes life more difficult for everybody else. Segregation is here to stay, I`m afraid. I`ve had the same problem a few times recently, when I`ve decided at a relatively late stage to go to an away game and had to sit in the `home` section. Fortunately, I`m quite good - usually - at not showing external emotion so it hasn`t caused any problems for me (yet). I`ve watched the highlights several times over now - can`t think why - and have to say that the goals seem to get better each time. Those four in the second half certainly wouldn`t be out of place at a level several tiers above National League. As Cookie says, it`s about time we started putting away some of the chances we`ve been creating; our goal difference does need a bit of TLC. (It`s taken me a bloody age to finish this post. I went to make myself a cup of coffee and came back to find that one of the cats had been walking all over the keyboard whilst I was gone and I was left with what looked like something out of the `missing vowels` round in Only Connect.) RE: Torquay - Devongone - 15-11-2022 The sadness is that Torquay is a lovely friendly club. I'd rather have had us thrash anybody but them. I'd have settled for 0-1 from a misplaced back pass. I am not sure I could have avoided giving the game away during that second half. Even Kabby's goal exuded class in the way he never looked like missing. My cat is yet to show any interest in communicating via the keyboard. She does lots of other things wrong instead, mostly aimed at demonstrating that she is the one in charge round here. The missing vowels round is my only chance to shine on Only Connect. I'm much better at University Challenge, but the cat remains unimpressed. |
