Anstey Nomads - spireitematt - 03-10-2022

Been drawn to Anstey Nomads away who are the lowest ranked team left in the competition. Had to google where they are from turns out Leicester. They play at Step 5 and there ground holds 1000. Wouldn't surprise me if this game is picked for BBC red button but then again Blyth Spartans vs Wrexham could be put on instead.

It`s actually a few mile north of Leicester, Matt; just off the northern relief road. If we were still living at the old place, I`d probably have tried to go. Having said that, the ground apparently only holds about a thousand, so unless you`re a season-ticket holder I think the chances of getting in are pretty slim.

I think I once played cricket at Anstey. Can't remember anything about it, but it seems an unusually sporty place. They have a football team, cricket team and I reckon rugby union too ..... and I imagine it is small enough to be classified as a village. I've been catching their football results in and around the East Midlands League for years.

It is definitely only a village, but a very pleasant one; only a stone`s throw from Bradgate Park, which used to be one of our favourite walks. About 2 miles from end to end with the potential for a coffee and a cake (always high on our list priorities) at the Newtown Linford end and at the Deerbarn in the middle. I can still taste their lemon drizzle cake now.

Rumour that the game could be moved.

Our lot may take enough to fill the ground on their own, so it would make sense. Any rumours on where it may be moved to? Buxton, by any chance?

It's on the red button next Saturday at 12:30pm.

As it stands no one knows if it's at there ground or being moved but with a capacity of 1000 and only 1 turnstile it would make sense for the game to be moved to a ground with a bit of a bigger capacity.

RE: Anstey Nomads - Devongone - 07-10-2022

Well, as Leicester City are away ..........

RE: Anstey Nomads - Dancingwilldoit - 07-10-2022

As I understand it the game can't be moved. It has to be played on their ground unless the police get involved and ask for it.

RE: Anstey Nomads - Devongone - 08-10-2022

How can they know it will kick off at 12.30 for the Red Button, if no one knows where it will be?

Personally, I think they should play it at Anstey and allocate us 100 tickets. They never get 1,000 or they'd have more turnstiles.

Anyway, they'll obviously beat us, so why do we have to watch and make ourselves miserable? None of this would be happening if it weren't for David Elleray, and maybe in some parallel universe it isn't.
