"TIME, Mr Bruce"?? - drewks - 15-09-2022 Thought we could do with this thread! For what it's worth, I've never liked him - always, IMHO, been unconvincing at best. I'm not advocating we should necessarily go with the bloke but 20 years ago, Steve Cotterill at Cheltenham recruited a whole squad very quickly; they weren't necessarily the best players but their attitude and commitment was second to none. These players got them through what was The Conference and into the Football League for the first time, winning the FA Trophy on the way. It seems that Mr Bruce HAS got (potentially) some very good players for the league we are in, but he just cannot motivate them. If this is consistently the case then surely he has to go. As has been said on the other thread though, with the equally dire board we seem to have at the moment, who would we end up with? RE: "TIME, Mr Bruce"?? - Zinman - 15-09-2022 His time was up 3 years ago, sadly our board didn't notice. RE: "TIME, Mr Bruce"?? - Blue Baggie - 15-09-2022 Bruce should have gone aat the end of last season. Nice guys finish 2nd. Bruce has no idea how to improve our club and has had enough chances. Bruce his son and mates, Gourlay, Pearce, Phillips. Bartley, Livermore all need to clear off. RE: "TIME, Mr Bruce"?? - WBA-Josh - 15-09-2022 I think if Bruce goes, they'll go for Scott Parker. Promotions with Fulham and Bournemouth and his teams play good football. RE: "TIME, Mr Bruce"?? - BaggieSteve - 15-09-2022 Since we sacked Pulis in November 2017, we've had 6 permanent managers (including the current one) and 2 caretakers; the longest serving was Slaven Bilic at 18 months. Six managers in less than 5 years is appalling, but shows either that the Board is incapable of selecting properly or that the Board / Owner have no level of patience - or, more likely, both are true. Consequently, I have absolutely no faith that, should the Board realise its error in appointing Bruce and sack him, it will appoint an appropriate replacement or give that person either the time or resources to make a success of the role. To be honest, with the exception of the usual tired faces looking for a pension top up, who on earth would want to take that job, with that history of appointments and an owner who has no interest in the club whatsoever? RE: "TIME, Mr Bruce"?? - drewks - 16-09-2022 .... hands up those who would want us to lose v Norwich if it led to the immediate removal of SB? RE: "TIME, Mr Bruce"?? - drewks - 16-09-2022 Oh. https://www.westbromnews.co.uk/2022/09/16/ron-gourlay-already-has-plan-set-for-future-of-steve-bruce-as-west-brom-manager/ RE: "TIME, Mr Bruce"?? - 4evaabaggie - 16-09-2022 (16-09-2022, 16:46)drewks Wrote: .... hands up those who would want us to lose v Norwich if it led to the immediate removal of SB? I like your sentiment Drewks but I think even that won't be enough. Reading on Newsnow WBA pages Gourlay wants SB to be here this season AND next. He wants him to have two summer windows. Are we looking at our first ever season in the basement division? We have never had two consecutive relegations, will that be Bruce's legacy, the man to take Albion from top half championship to league two in two and a half years. Odds anybody? RE: "TIME, Mr Bruce"?? - Baggiebob(BBB) - 16-09-2022 How long is his contract for? And how would we be able to pay him off with no money? He''ll stay until that Chinese feller pays up, and hopefully injured players will make a difference ![]() |
