RE: Spireite Boy - Devongone - 04-11-2022

Spireite Boy ran at Newcastle today over 6 furlongs and finished penultimate ........ BUT ..........

he has changed trainers. He has gone to Mike Appleby who is usually the top trainer through the winter months.

I watched the race. It was totally different from all his other efforts. Instead of being slowish away he bounced out of the stalls and led for almost five furlongs.

He rapidly fell back, but he looked quite a neat sort who may not be as hopeless as he has sounded.

I reckon Appleby will win a 5 furlong affair at a low level with him this winter. He does have some speed, but there is really little stamina either side of his pedigree. The shorter the better, even the few yards short of the five furlongs at Southwell might help ......
