Hibs v Dundee United, Sat 2 April,KO 3.00pm - 0762 - 29-03-2022

Well this fixture is a massive one for Hibs in terms of remaining in the top six after the "split". It's a home match and one that the players must take full advantage of in front of what will be a huge Hibs support that realises the potential importance of the result even though Scot Prem results elsewhere may still benefit Hibs in retaining a top six spot. A good performance with a few goals wouldn't go amiss either TBH. Hopefully Paul Hanlon will be fit enough to return and play alongside Rocky in the centre of our defence. It would also be nice to see other missing injured players similarly returning to challenge for places esp with a Scot Cup semi-final looming ever closer. A goal drought up front is still a problem that must be resolved as we approach the "business end" of the season. Whether Shaun Maloney can redress this problem is anyone's guess - all down to the player resources at his disposal. C'mon Hibs!!

Heaps of good forward play with lotsa scoring opps being created by Hibs this afternoon, but guess what - we don't have a natural pen box striker as being debated every time that Hibs play a competitive match since Boyly was sold off!! Melkersen should've delivered a very well deserved win and 3 pts for Hibs in the final min of AT - couldn't do it, a "sitter" scorned, and he missed out on giving himself a huge personal boost in the CF position up front. Maloney playing out the same post-match interview, says the same things ad nauseum. Looks like Hibs are on the brink of dropping out of the top six after the impending "split" and that failure will be due to Hibs irritating profligacy in front of goal. One additional thing I'd comment re this upcoming "split" is how unfair it will be for the sides that don't make it as it has become very clear this season that there is only a few points difference between the tenth placed side and the fourth placed team in the Scot Prem. So why should any of these teams be penalised by a "split" league system that takes away the chance to compete for a Euro footie place???

Very good summary, 0762, but I'd say that all of the teams involved in one of the tightest top/bottom 6s ever do have a good chance of European football. The ones that miss out just aren't good enough and that includes Hibs for the reasons we have all mentioned. And don't forget we are only 8 points in front of St Johnstone with 6 games to go, so we must get better to stay clear of trouble.

Yep! Good comments! All I'm saying is these clubs shouldn't be denied that chance to win a Euro spot certainly in this unusual case/footie season. Lets face it, Euro footie is a "step too far" anyway for any Scot Prem team and decades of Scot footie history/failure confirm that fact; worse for the eventual side that takes that fourth place during this season as the standard is not good enough!! I've commented for years that Euro footie is nothing more than a distraction for Scot Prem teams and it can wreck a footie club's season in so many instances - not geared up to take on that challenge!! Saint Johnstone anybody?? That won't change! It irks me more as a Hibs shareholder to observe HFC "blowing away" a lotta money because they never prepared correctly to attain a "top six" finish. I genuinely hope my feared outcome doesn't unfold in the way it appears to be going. If it does happen, I want to see "heads roll" starting with Hibs Chief Exec who I regard as a useless c### who has a played a part in creating this problem. Should others follow? Well just study the critical views of many Hibs fans, preceding this match and post match, to get a "flavour" of the strength of feeling re this situation.

Thought we were unlucky to be honest, certainly based on the 2nd half. We played some nice possession football that deserved to be finished off with a winner, not to mention the stonewall pk we were denied.

Clarke looks a good addition and i still maintain that it will come good once Shaun gets another window to get some of his players in.
