Nutted? - Devongone - 20-02-2022 Curtis Weston? Was he our captain? Did he really nut an opponent after we'd just gone 2-0 up? Am I right that in a long career he'd never been sent off before? Should we book him into The Priory? At least we can now take Wrexham by surprise. They'll never guess what's coming next. RE: Nutted? - spireitematt - 21-02-2022 On the highlights it look like he was trying to get to the referee and the Solihull player got in his face and then dropped to the floor feigning a headbutt to get Weston sent off. RE: Nutted? - Devongone - 22-02-2022 I couldn't bear to watch the highlights. There is so much feigning injury in football worldwide, I'm beginning to lose interest. When I played these guys would have been a laughing stock. "Gi' him a mardy tablet!" And we, transported to now, would never find out if the game was too fast, too skilled, or the ball too light ......... because most of us would have been sent off in the first 15 minutes. Corners now are just one instance of how ridiculous the game has become. Markers avoid being accused of ball-watching, because they've no idea where it is, they are too busy grappling with their opposite number. Oh God, I'm sick of hearing pundits pontificating about why Leicester concede from corners every week. They have a keeper, who is actually capable of catching crosses, but who is terrified of in-swinging corners into his six-yard box. No need for the opposition to block him off. He has no intention of coming for the ball. He's a big strong guy and he can do some damage if some little nerd is assigned to blocking him. I know the ball moves about nowadays and these crosses are dangerous and difficult to deal with ........ but mate that's why you get the big bucks. The alternative is picking the ball out of the back of the net, which is easy, but dispiriting for all concerned. RE: Nutted? - Dancingwilldoit - 23-02-2022 Didn't go Saturday due to family bereavement. Went last night though. First half we were magnificent. We played some brilliant stuff and I was quite cheered up. How many times have I seen it though, good first half, second half flatter than a pancake. Their first goal was a goal mouth scramble, the second was a blatant handball to push the ball over the line with all protests being waved aside. We just went to pieces following that. Wrexham have been watching Solihull and learning how to cheat and get away with it. Have now put all my humble pie back in the freezer. There was no way PC was going to waltz in and pick up wins from the off. He needs to shake his head and sort his tactics out. His half time team talk must have been a brainstorm because the way we set up and played second half was shocking. With 15 minutes left we even brought Rowley on, where did he play? Right back yes right back. That should say it all. |
