New manager then ? - Baggie_One - 02-02-2022 He’s gone Who’s next RE: New manager then ? - BaggieSteve - 02-02-2022 To be honest, with the club's recent track record of appointing coaches/managers, I fear the worst RE: New manager then ? - baggietrousers - 02-02-2022 Whoever it is, he can't be worse than VI. Pardew ![]() RE: New manager then ? - Slick_Footwork - 02-02-2022 Chuffed. Couldn't bare to watch his football any longer. Now we'll see how serious the powers that be are about getting promoted. If they're serious, they will go for someone like Rafa Benitez. Not saying he would be my choice, but if they're serious they would go for someone with that sort of experience. Really don't know what they will do though... could be anything from the cheap option like Mozza or Shan, to a journeyman like Steve Bruce, or a wildcard from abroad. Can never tell with this lot. Snodgrass's release yesterday is even more bizarre after this news. RE: New manager then ? - Baggievicar - 02-02-2022 Yes, Snodgrass is probably kicking himself. Gently, without moving much. I'm sad to see yet another manager leave the shrine, because it's a sign of an unhealthy club, but there was no way on earth it looked as if Val could turn things round so it's a huge relief to have it over and done with. I've seen Big Sam mentioned as possible for the rest of the season. Please, no. And Colin. PLEASE, NO. RE: New manager then ? - wba13 - 02-02-2022 Well this man reported on Sunday that Ismael had been sacked don’t know who he is but now reporting this Ekrem KONUR @Ekremkonur West Bromwich will hold talks with Slaven Bilic. #WBA #WestBromwich" RE: New manager then ? - WBA-Josh - 02-02-2022 Bruno Labbadia is my choice. I will be very much in favour of Slaven Bilic returning. RE: New manager then ? - Slick_Footwork - 02-02-2022 Kjetil Knutsen would be my choice. I really hope the Bilic rumour isn't true but fear there could be some truth in it if this new CEO is in favour of "uniting the club with the fans" after fans called for him against Preston. Personally I thought his transfer window prior to the Premier League was disastrous and thought our performances under him were downright embarrassing. Recruiting the likes of Branislav Ivanovic and spending £30m on Grant and Grady, both of whom play in exactly the same position. The squad Bilic got us promoted with was miles better than this one and even then we bottled it when it was in our own hands. Being balanced, at least the football would improve though and even Filip Krovinovic would improve us this time around... ![]() There are many names I'd prefer that are available though. If we were going to bring back an old face, I'd much prefer Tony Mowbray over Bilic. RE: New manager then ? - BaggieSteve - 02-02-2022 Please not Steve Bruce, just please no! Mowbray is out of contract in the summer so I'd prefer us to be managed by Mozza and Brunty for the remainder of the season and see if Mowbray would be interested, particularly if Blackburn are not promoted. I've heard Benitez's name - definitely not, if we think VI's football was turgid, listen to fans of Everton and even those of Newcastle who were not pulled into the 'Love Rafa/Hate Ashley' palaver. His football is not in the least attractive. I've also heard McInnes' name mentioned - fortunately, he's just been appointed to Kilmarnock because his football was as bad as VI's in his last 2/3 seasons at Pittodrie. I would honestly rather not rush into a bad external appointment (do we ever learn) but wait until the summer when the picture becomes clearer. It may mean we don't get promoted this season although who knows, but if we don't, I'd prefer that over what seems to be available on the market right now |
