Hibs v Motherwell, Sat 4 December, KO 3.00pm - 0762 - 02-12-2021

Well this will be the third match of a testy threesome for Hibs since the end of the international break. And the boys hadn't done too badly until last night when done out of a well-earned draw v Rangers. Now we face the "steelmen". It would be great to pick up the 3 pts. Not easy as M'well attained a good 1-0 result v the Tangerines last night. However, they definitely appear to be "blowing hot n cold" as a team. So we don't know what M'well team will show up for this game. Gotta keep a close watch on Tony Watt who has had a decent season as a striker. More importantly, the guys really need to apply themselves to win this match. Doidgy will return and prob be on the subs' bench. We'll also see who is injured after Wednesday's match at ER Stadium. I hope Nisbet "finds his scoring boots" for this one as I wasn't impressed with his overall contribution last night - too many mispasses and poor touches for my liking and playing more like an inside forward looking for his spearhead partner/striker up front. C'mon Hibs! No complacency please.

It's on BBC Alba "as live" at 6pm, also at 11.10pm. I'll probably watch one of them, no matter the result.

Massive game for Jack Ross.

As 0762 says , 'Well are hot and cold at the moment so Hibs must be hoping it is the latter that shows up at Easter Road tomorrow.

Still fit ( as much as I can hope for) so we will be there tomorrow but get well soon Jim. Lets hope for a few goals for Hibs to make you feel better. Thumb up

Cannot imagine it will be a large crowd tomorrow due to the festive season looming and fans having forked out for Final tickets so the team may have to motivate themselves.

RE: Hibs v Motherwell, Sat 4 December, KO 3.00pm - 0762 - 05-12-2021

FT and a 1-1 draw on a cold, dismal afternoon when I'd rather play than watch a game of footie. In summary, Nisbet scoring a good goal in a first half where Hibs were not too bright for most of that 1st period. Motherwell's equaliser was expected in the second half and my disappointment centred on 1. Hibs not attaining a "clean sheet" and 2. The fact that Watt scored the equalising goal - I couldn't have emphasised his threat enough in the Hibs dressing room, if I was Hibs manager, to the point where I would've likely deployed a close marker on him with my instruction that "his jersey is yours"!!
Anyway, that isn't the whole story as Hibs really had enough scoring opps to end this match - not clinical enough in front of goal AGAIN! Nisbet scoring one goal, but scorning too many other opps to finish them off while Boyly "in absentia" with regard to positive striking. Young Campbell really unlucky when hitting their crossbar and it looking like it was just "one of those days". IMO we need other goal scorers starting to "get in on the act"! We've acquired 4 pts from the last three fixtures - not ideal, but better than the zero pts that many Hibs fans feared and that horrible losing sequence is over!! We move on.

Either side could have won with Motherwell having great chances to have scored 2 or 3 before Nisbets great goal. We then finished the stronger following Watts equaliser. In the end a draw was a fair result.
Easter Road again like a morgue with all the buzz, anticipation and feel good factor having now gone. ( despite the attendance given as 15,000+  Big Grin  Big Grin  Big Grin ) Results are now all important up to the Derby game just into the New Year and these will effect the feeling towards Jack Ross and his methods and how shoogly his peg will be. Huh

Lets start at Livi on Wednesday and get the 3 points on that awful pitch.

Like Josh Campbell, he will become some player.

'mon Hibs

I thought Hibs could've won this game fairly comfortably in the last quarter of this match TBF - enough decent scoring opps, but profligate in front of goal - not a new problem for Hibs!

RE: Hibs v Motherwell, Sat 4 December, KO 3.00pm - HerefordBull - 05-12-2021

Same could have been said about Motherwell in the first 30 minutes as they could have been out of sight, rather like when Celtic came last time around. Hibs are not good at chasing games and breaking down packed defenses.

Totally uninspired by the game. It didn't look or feel like a home game. For about 10 minutes before Nisbet's beautifully taken goal, Motherwell had 3 gilt-edged chance to score. Mugabi was "done " for the goal, but I was generally impressed by his positional sense - a bit raw, even at 26. Keep an eye on him as Hanlon's replacement??? - certainly McGregor's.

It could have been another 6-6 if both sides had had their shooting boots on and both sides will think they could/should have won. Our problem is not so much in defence, but in turning chances created into goals. Jack Ross seems to suggest otherwise and that does concern me.

RE: Hibs v Motherwell, Sat 4 December, KO 3.00pm - 0762 - 05-12-2021

I personally wanna see a change in mentality in games like this one where the game is there to be won in the last 10-15 mins - push for it and continue to do so until the very end. Celtic and Rangers generally tend to do it that way and IMO it is a "frame of mind" issue instilled in players' coaching. We obviously need the right players to do it plus the right coach plus raising fitness levels to suit.
