Hibs v Rangers, 1 December, KO 7.45pm - 0762 - 28-11-2021 Well the "winter footie season" looks like it has finally arrived and the first December fixture is gonna be challenging for Hibs with Rangers new manager, Van Bronckhorst, attaining two opening victories in his first two fixtures. Hibs and Jack Ross have thankfully curtailed a horrible sequence of lost matches with a decent display/victory v Saint Johnstone. I'm hoping the "tide has turned" in that regard and I am a bit more optimistic re our chances on Wednesday night. Kevin Nisbet looks like he may well have found his "mojo" again in scoring terms and I'm happy to see Ryan Porteous back in his customary CB position alongside captain Paul Hanlon. I notice GVB has introduced a more possession based style to their way of playing as well as personally preferring a 4-3-3 line up. Something to note JR. I think this change of style might actually suit Hibs v a Rangers team that has found Hibs matches to be difficult to negotiate compared with other Scot Prem games. There's no doubt they'll be trying to avenge their well deserved defeat at the hands of Hibs in the recent PS cup semi-final. Hibs/JR must counter that with their own "edge" and tactics v opponents they don't particularly like for obvious reasons. As usual, I'll be interested in discovering who the assigned referee will be for this fixture and then I'll have a clearer picture of knowing if we have a decent chance, a sad situation TBH, but that is where we are in this Scot Prem set up. C'mon Hibs! Lets "get in their faces" again and give them a serious game of footie!! GGTTH RE: Hibs v Rangers, 1 December, KO 7.45pm - hibeejim21 - 01-12-2021 We will have to watch out for their star player tonight - John "cheatin" Beaton. RE: Hibs v Rangers, 1 December, KO 7.45pm - HerefordBull - 01-12-2021 ......and his sidekick ( Walsh) as the fourth official! Brothers unite. RE: Hibs v Rangers, 1 December, KO 7.45pm - hibeejim21 - 01-12-2021 And its started already - Barisic gets a foul for slipping as cadden goes past him..... Meanwhile Mcgregor screaming at his players to play on while Hanlon is down injured. Absolute scumbag. Morelos shoves over porteous......Beaton logically gives Porto a talking to. In other news Goldson is chronically bad....Nisbet definitely has his number. You would have to be truly braindead or a rabid hun (usually the same thing) to think he was ever capable of playing for engerlund. Sevco nearly score from a corner that was a clear goal kick. 0-0 half time. We look a threat, but the team clearly doesnt know when to press at times. RE: Hibs v Rangers, 1 December, KO 7.45pm - hibeejim21 - 01-12-2021 we've been the better side 2nd half and had a couple of chances that i cant believe we didn't bury but i guess morelos had one too for sevco. Beaton has given us absolutely jackshit. You can see our players are scared to tackle anywhere near the box. RE: Hibs v Rangers, 1 December, KO 7.45pm - ritchiebaby - 02-12-2021 Just back from the curling. I'm waiting to see 0762's report before criticising Rangers' 12th man. Meanwhile Mcgregor screaming at his players to play on while Hanlon is down injured. Absolute scumbag. Just back from ER Stadium and that's a good summary of the 1st half. That clear goal kick, given as a corner, was a disgrace by that AR who was about 2 feet from the touch off the Rangers player. Also the offside call (same AR) against Boyly was another wrong call - lotsa fans like myself, in the East Stand, and in line with Boyly's run. Second half, Hibs giving as good as their getting from Rangers with some really good controlled phases of this match, but with no end product. I thought one "defining moment" was Cadden's great scoring opp to give Hibs the lead - didn't hit the baw true and accurate (a bottom LH corner strike), a big chance gone ![]() ![]() RE: Hibs v Rangers, 1 December, KO 7.45pm - hibeejim21 - 02-12-2021 Kent initiated the contact. He was at it all game, falling over for nothing. You only need to see how the way he falls to know it. Hagi pulled a similar stunt v st mirren. The Hibs fans knew a penalty was coming because they weren't scoring any other way last night and if they don't win the title this year they are in deep shit. Down the other end the same incident would have seen Nisbet booked for diving. 3 winnable games coming up before the cup final. Let's hope Ross gets it right, because in my opinion the game the sevco game was there to be won if he had made some changes earlier. RE: Hibs v Rangers, 1 December, KO 7.45pm - HerefordBull - 02-12-2021 Think you are right about sevco not being as good as they were 0762. I said as such to my mate that if we had a go in the second half we could win the game. I would have liked to see our 2 creative midfielders of Allan and Murphy on with at least 20 minutes to go and show our intent to beat them. However Ross being Ross he was obviously happy with the draw and we only saw those 2 players in the 86th minute when we were chasing the game! FFS Ross go for it. ![]() A battling performance with no threat. I thought Sevco saw the game out well and certainly wasn't like the Alamo when we are trying to do the same. OK, some hefty clearances but we cannot hurt them from where the ball ends up. Think we forced one corner and didn't work McGregor so not in mind holding on for dear life......their job was done with the penalty. As for the penalty I thought at the game it was a stonewaller and it was right in line where we sit. Seeing it on replay it is clever work by Kent to get some contact as Ryan withdraws his foot and I think in real time it certainly gave Beaton a decision which of course goes in favour of the Ibrox side. Shoe on the other foot and we would be calling for the penalty and I am certain Boyle would have done ( and has done so) the same. We have had some very soft penalties given for us but as you say never against the uglies. ![]() Motherwell is now massive for Ross, lose and that is 7 from 8 losses in the league ![]() GGTTH RE: Hibs v Rangers, 1 December, KO 7.45pm - hibeejim21 - 02-12-2021 It's not even the penalty, even though that decided the game. It's the general way beaton treated both teams across the 90 mins. You'd have to be blind not to see it. |
