Near the M1
Pass me a Campari
Or a Bedford Van
You sure you don't want a Luton Van?

Just in case you got lost, yes this is the genuine "bollox that I make up as I go along, fun and fact filled, full of boring stats" type fred, rather than "Snoots posing in his underwear" on the other fred.
Feel free to comment on either, or better still, both.

First of all the Coventry fan that was taken ill the other night is fine and has thanked the medical staff at Luton for their help. Thumb up

October already? Where did this Covid ridden, vaccine filled, petrol and over priced gas shortage fuelled Olympic year go to already?
Olympics? Remember them? No me neither, well a few bits of the BBC's coverage from an imitation pagoda in Salford or a windy/foggy/rainy bridge in Tokyo and a few blurry eyed gold medals at 4:00am.
It's an old age thing. That and having a beer (it's one of my 5-a-day so it's allowed) just before bed-time.

Right, where are we? Well, still 7th apparently. Two places and 3 points above Luton and with the same GD.  Thumb up

Town, after the (unexpected ?? maybe, but) well earned 3 points on Tuesday head down the M1 to Luton, just norf of that there Larndan.
The same Luton who battered an unexpectedly high flying Coventry on Wednesday.
In this division we all know what happens after you've handed out a darned good battering don't we?

Yup we go and have a darned good meal with a stack of bread and butter and a big mug of tea, or two.
Then "orf darn tha pab" (for the benefit of our Luton friends) to soak up the chip fat with a few pints of bitter,  Big Grin  Big Grin
and that's just the women in Yorksha. Some great lasses in Yorksha tha' knows. Thumb up

Ask Snoots, he'll tell ya.

[Image: EM.jpg] v Snoots [Image: 82dda1c1cf166747d07e4183b57a5581.jpg]

We think that's him with the beard, allegedly. Well, AmChaff hasn't denied it, so far.  Whistle

Oops sorry, we'd like to apologise that the trailer for the B-Film thread has invaded the Main Feature Film thread.
We will now return you to the main feature thread.

(Did I get away with that one?)  Whistle

Speaking of Main Feature Films, is anybody going to see if they can dodge Covid and go and watch the new Bond film while coughing up popcorn and spraying Kia Ora all over everyone?
It's available in the foyer right now, along with some PEEEEAAAANNNUUUUUTTTTSSS!

No me neither. It will be on the tellybox soon, probably on Christmas Day.
I hope not, I never see owt on the tellybox on Christmas Day these days.

I'd far rather miss it on another day so I can miss watching something else far more interesting instead anyway.

Or just go "darn tha pab".  Laugh

On the tellybox?

Not showing anywhere at the moment other than iPlayer for our 'furriner' friends, unless of course, you know better.

Where are ya?

Well, Luton is between J10 and J11 of the M1, on the other side of the road from the great metropolis of Dunstable.
When I last checked they were expanding the M1 to 10 lanes each way and it still gets bunged up solid at least 2x per day.
Luton is to the M1 what Walsall is to the M6.
Something to do with where all the dickheads work according to the RAC, apparently. They don't all live there, they just all work there.
Full of Sunday drivers still trying to get home on weekdays, and then they go off for another drive the next weekend. Doh

If you really, really want to go and sit/stand in a stand with very, very limited views, here's how to get there and who's front room you have to walk through to get in.

Kenilworth Road

I like those web pages. Whoever does them can buy themselves a beer from me, with their own brass.
It also contains info about them building a new ground on land they bought yonks ago but likely won't be finished for at least another 3-5 years. I couldn't be bothered with all the copy and paste stuff on all that, but when it does finally get built, supporters of both sides might finally get to watch a match rather than sit behind a load of steel pillars in somebody's kitchen.
Whether they'll get as many free cups of tea into the bargain is another matter.

Doesn't this look pretty?  Thumb up

[Image: Colisuem-Summit-News-Luton-Town-update-Sept-2020-02.jpg]

Be honest Luton fans, what are the realistic chances of it ever looking anything like that?
Do you really have about £250m to spare for that?
Thought not. So a set of 6x4 sheds at the back of the terracing to hand out the pies and for the fans to pee in it is then.

Getting there.

It's a pain in the lower regions of your internal organs on public transport from Yorksha or the West Midlands to get there to be honest.
Most train routes take you to that there Larndan and back out again from St. Pancreas Station.
That or drive up or down (or both) the M1 and hope the Sunday drivers either haven't come out early or have finally got home.
You can also nip across from Stevenage on the A1. If you are lucky you might get a direct train in the East Midlands area, from somewhere like Corby or Bedford, maybe?
Direct trains go north from Gatwick for our Southern Section fans, but you lot likely already know that.

Latest news

Did anyone mention Sorba The Greek has been picked for Wales? I thought so. Why can't he play for Greece then?

Did anyone mention he's got more assists this season than anyone else so far?

Keep it up young fella.  Thumb up

Score a few more while you are at it, please. It all helps the cause.

Terriers midfielder Brahima Diarra has signed a new long-term contract with the club, now contracted until summer 2024

Out Injured/Suspended/Isolating

The General, aka Johnny Hogg, and Levi Coldwell missed out on Tuesday, we'll have wait for tomorrow to see if either are available for this one.
Vallejo also picked up a knee injury against Blackburn. Otherwise, you all know who else is missing.

Back training but not oven ready/Back in the frame

None of the long term injured are anywhere near the oven yet.

Last time out

It might have just escaped your notice, if so I'll remind you, we beat Bollackburn Rovers 3-2, in part due to a devastating display up front from Danny, Danny Ward.
Yes the same Danny, Danny Ward that couldn't trap a bag of wet cement let alone pass a fart so far all season, and he is now our joint top scorer.

Oh, and they more or less scraped past Coventry Whistle
Good effort chaps. I hope you don't keep that up this weekend. Thumb up

I think that deserves a song or two for the young Mr. Danny Ward

Musical interlude

I know. I know. Nathan Jones is stating the bleeding obvious so I'm not playing it this week, sorry.
Somebody else can play it for the home match. Move along please, nothing to see here.

Somehow I think they won't like me for picking this one down on the banks of the A505.

A rich history of musical talent in Luton - this one fits in really well with Kenilworth Road

and this one reminds me of pleasant times back in my yoof. Not to mention sung by a very Dandy Mr. Young.

Ah yes, "Every time you go away, you lose another game again."

Lovely song. I'd like to dedicate it to any L666s fans having a sneaky view of the thread.

It's nice to know you're here. Feel free to join in the conversation at any time. Smartass  Laugh

For no reason linked to Luton what-so-ever other than I was at a big park in Knebworth, Stevenage, not a million miles from Luton many, many moons ago.

Who ever did the camera work clearly wasn't using an iPhone, well they weren't around back then. Probably used his dad's Super 8 cine camera by the look of it.

The Live Aid version that stole the show at Wemberlee was a far better recording, if you want to watch it again, click the link below.

Plenty more from that there Luton to pick from, but I'll leave the tinder dry in case I return for another match v Luton sometime.

Tables and Form

Did I mention inconsistency earlier?
Maybe not but if two teams epitomise inconsistency in this division, 10 games in to the season it's these two.
Just as likely to hammer a side as they are likely to get hammered.
Lose to someone who just got battered then beat a team that just battered someone else. Happens every week.
Either way the goals are flowing for us for a change (well, for the most part).

[Image: oEa3XT1.jpg] [Image: vi1GQ5P.jpg]

[Image: 1nZWDvP.jpg] [Image: 3ugHJdx.jpg]

Innies and Outies

Some fella called Matty Pearson left them in the summer for some club called Huddersfield Town (who they then?), how's that working out?

Who's banging 'em in

Last season Pearson scored 2 goals for Luton, but Town now have a new joint top scorer alongside the prolific Mr. Pearson.

However, a lad playing at Walsall last season, who thought he was on his way to us finished up at Luton and is now their top scorer.
Did we drop a major bollock here or what?
Well we sent them one of our kids on loan to make up for it. Doh

They can't all lose, can they

Smoke-on-Stench and West Brom play each other on Friday night, Coventry play Full-of-Fluham in another game where who knows which version of either side will turn out?
Other than the top two, who have both yet to lose, the consistent thing about this division is almost everyone else is inconsistent, I may have mentioned that earlier.
2nd top scorer for Bornmuff so far - Phil Billing - 5 goals. He scored 6 for us in total in 6 seasons.
Top scorer and top assists at WBA is is a promising young prospect called Karlan Grant. Can't think where they go him from? Oh, hang on a minute!!

We've played 'em before

It's close in the league games, close enough that a Town win will make it 10-10.
The final score might be close to that too. I doubt it will be 0-0 for some reason. Just saying.  Whistle

Next up?

Most of our lads get to put their feet up for a couple of weeks, while a few will go Covid dodging in funny parts of the world, like Wales.

We next play Hull City and all their bad-assed supporters, who the semi-mental Wezzy Yorksha cops don't like coming to visit our luverly part of the county for some reason, on October 16th.  Big Grin

Are they bringing the fish for that match? If so I'll dig some spuds up for the chips. Who's bringing the mushy peas?

Sing when they're fishing, they only sing when they're fishing.  Laugh

Danny, Danny Ward and Careless talk to Radio Local.

They both go on a bit.

KWIK KWIZ

1. Can you name all those Yorksha women in the picture above?
I can't which is why I'm asking, so don't expect me to mark your homework this week.
I know a few like, but who says you don't learn anything on t'interweb, eh?  Smartass

2. See Q1. Repeat until kick-off or the final whistle.

3. Trying to make it easy this week, can't be bothered with antigrams again, they do me 'ead in. Go back to Q1 again.

Come on Town, bring us some more sunshine given the weather has gone to hell in a hand cart.

Did I mention I finally got some petrol this week? Yay.  Big Grin

How about you?

Right, so where are all the bog rolls then?  Doh

RE: Mad Hatters v Tiger Toothed Terriers - 02/09/2021 - jjamez - 01-10-2021

I'll take two of the difficult ones for you Theo, ones Jessica ennis-hill and the other is dame Judi dench.

As for the soccer ball, we seem to be consistently inconsistent as well as enjoy doing everything we can to avoid a draw. Luton appear to like the odd draw here and there, so going on what's gone before it could be a goal friendly draw or not, who knows? Wink

RE: Mad Hatters v Tiger Toothed Terriers - 02/09/2021 - ritchiebaby - 01-10-2021

A bad case of verbal diarhhoea there, Theo, but enjoyable in a perverse way.

On the female front, Gaby Logan and Hannah Cockcroft are to the fore (on the sports field) and I think it might be Tracy Brabin in her young day (round the back of the bike shed?).

RE: Mad Hatters v Tiger Toothed Terriers - 02/09/2021 - Lord Snooty - 01-10-2021

Oy. I've neither a beard nor an afro. If owt, the nearest is the one with the specs and the sock suspenders. Big Grin

RE: Mad Hatters v Tiger Toothed Terriers - 02/09/2021 - theo_luddite - 01-10-2021

You may have noticed I've a bit too much time on my hands at the moment ritchie. Big Grin

RE: Mad Hatters v Tiger Toothed Terriers - 02/09/2021 - Lord Snooty - 01-10-2021

Mel B is there. Not sure of the others that haven't been got yet.

Cracking thread again, theo. Cheeky monkey. Big Grin
