WBA vs QPR & Cardiff - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 23-09-2021

Though Albion's unbeaten start to the league campaign continues apace - only the Baggies and Bournemouth now remain undefeated in the Championship - it's beginning to feel distinctly draw-heavy, and while the top of the table is still well within reach for now, the chasing pack is threatening to swallow us up fast. Hopefully the problem is nothing that can't be solved with just one of our forwards hitting a vein of form, but if they're going to step up to the mark, then the next few games heading into the October break will be a challenging time to do it.

In the first of consecutive Friday night fixtures, we welcome Queens Park Rangers to the Hawthorns for the first time since a fairly hard-fought draw against them saw us promoted last July. Historically we tend to go through good and bad streaks against the Hoops, winning or losing several on the bounce; 2020's draw came off the back of several positive results, and it might be that in tandem with our recent goalscoring troubles, we're in for another stalemate. But having lost their last two league matches, we might yet catch them napping.

Tuesday evening then takes us across Offa's Dyke to face Cardiff, who are also in an indifferent run of form, but notorious for making their home soil a miserable Albion hunting ground. A smattering of draws in the 2000s are as good as it's got in decades; we've never taken three points from the current stadium, and you have to go back to October 1974 for our last triumph at Ninian Park. So, fairly low expectations on that front; but whatever the result, in the spirit of greater cultural understanding, let me be the first to point out that mae Caerdydd yn diwmor truenus ar anws cysawd yr haul, a byddwn yn gynt yn cael trydydd brechlyn coronafirws yn fy sgrotwm na threulio munud arall o fy mywyd yno. And you can't say fairer than that.

You’ve obviously got too much time on your hands! I’ll try to find some free time at work to solve the anagrams.
As an aside, I think you’ve got a spelling mistake in your Welsh section.

RE: WBA vs QPR & Cardiff - Blue Baggie - 23-09-2021

Sam Field
Charlie Austin

RE: WBA vs QPR & Cardiff - Zinman - 23-09-2021

10. Ike Webb - never heard of him but it’s the only possible solution.

36. Mark Grew

Four guesses all correct. Ike Webb was Albion goalkeeper when we won the Second Division title in 1902, then went on to play ten matches for QPR in the Southern League in 1907.

48 Lee Camp

32 Stan Davies? Even Andy Dibble was before I was born so I’m struggling here
