Kairo departs having arrived via random select - Devongone - 03-08-2021 As I was the first and only one suggesting we put this mad man in charge I feel responsible. This is management Luke Rhinehart style. Have you read The Dice Man? All Chesterfield fans should. First we had Casino Ownership. Now we get Dice Management. We're about to play a team. They're supposed to have a couple of outstanding young talents. We buy one just before the game. Win the game, having deprived the opposition of him. We finally give him a couple of runs in the team. No great success. Outer darkness. Sell him to major rival that having been the option on which we rolled a six. If there's a bigger picture it was painted by Hieronymus Bosch. Did it surprise me? Nothing would. It's like having the decorators in on a permanent basis. RE: Kairo departs having arrived via random select - spireitematt - 03-08-2021 Way I see it is Rowe brought in players to keep us up from relegation and push as high as possible in the league and he's bringing in new players to challenge for promotion. As for the book you are talking about I've heard of it. Is it where he makes life and death decisions on the roll of a dice? I read a article once about a man who made decisions on the flip of a coin. Sounds very similar to the film Yes Man where Jim Carrey's character goes to a seminar changes his outlook on life by saying yes to everything. RE: Kairo departs having arrived via random select - Dancingwilldoit - 03-08-2021 Very strange given Dentons now out for a couple of months. The Dice Man was a cult literary hit when I was a young man. Yes, it's about a psychiatrist who becomes fascinated with the random and makes his decisions by dice, treats his patients by dice and the dicelife becomes a semi-religious cult. It is well-written, funny and disturbingly thought-provoking. It must be available on Amazon. I fear Mr Rowe maintains control by permanently ensuring his players are unsure of themselves and their futures. If you don't perform you are out there's a new guy just around the corner or already on the way. Kairo may have been just a kick up the arse to the rest of the team. If he performed then great, if not the team scored four at King's Lynn anyway. Will the Rowe approach work? It could but I wouldn't bet on us. We might make the play-offs. I just don't think you can treat players like this. When you need them to give their all they won't have sufficient unity. Hope I'm wrong. |
