Saido to Liverpool? - silverbaggie - 29-12-2014

According to the Metro.

http://metro.co.uk/2014/12/28/liverpool-close-to-signing-west-brom-striker-saido-berahino-in-23-5m-transfer-deal-5001441/

£23.5M sounds a bit high but, at that figure I would bite their hands off.

Trouble is would JP allow any of the money to be used to strengthen the squad?

Might upset a few here but if that's the sum they're talking about then I'd happily drive him down there myself

Listening to talk sport on the way to work this morning (!! Sad ) and yeah they were saying 22.5m I think. Anywhere over 20m and he's gone surely. Maybe he will give 15m as a carrot to whoever is going to come in, if that's the case.

Wouldn't be any bad blood with him leaving I don't think, and also think the current crop is holding him back a bit..

Well, surely AI has been getting us used to 'life after Saido' by leaving him out recently?
Not exactly been a rip-roaring success though has it.......proof of need to reinvest?

If any club is that desperate to want to spend over £20m for a young player with an attitude problem then, like others, I'll cash in on that and drive him to the club.

Until Father Ted uses the players correctly we are doomed anyway - no real wing play, no putting the ball into the box and nothing to feed Ideye with (or Saido).

Since Berahino was selected for the senior England squad, he's been a different person and player.

His level of performance has dropped, his body language and sulky expressions just tells you he is no longer interested in the club that gave him a chance and developed him into the footballer he is today.

I also think we should move him on given the right money or he could turn into a second Peter Odemwanker. For Saido, Liverpool would be his best option as if it were either of the Manchester clubs, Arsenal or Chelsea he would disappear into a squad never to be seen again whereby at Liverpool, he would at least be given a chance.

Careful what you wish for. Who else do we have who can score?

RE: Saido to Liverpool? - Tom_Wba - 29-12-2014

If they offered £23M for him i'd drive him to Liverpool myself thats some statement considering i've never had a driving lesson Big Grin
The money would obviously need re investing though and given we've spent £10M on potentially a flop i can't see Peace sanctioning big money signings again sadly

RE: Saido to Liverpool? - Salopbaggie - 29-12-2014

Happy as long as the money finds its way back into the squad and does not disappear into one of JP's coffee tins (for a rainy day of course).

The bit of the article I found most interesting though is the comment "Berahino, who has told West Brom he wants to leave this week".

It is only the Metro though
