A sad day for Town, when you think about the players who have played for Town down the years Frank is probably in the top two when it comes to being famous around the world(the other being Dennis Law).
Loved the story about his blood pressure being too high when taking his medical to sign for Liverpool so they sent him away on holiday to relax. Its fair to say Frank relaxed, drank everything and shagged everything in sight and when he went for his second medical his blood pressure was higher

Or the other version of that failed medical is that Shankly said; "There is no way I'm having a player with Syphilis in our dressing room."
He was of course, the embodiment of the old 70s footballer's joke (often credited to George Best) "I spent 90% of my money on wine, women and song. The rest I just frittered away."
Not sure if I've ever mentioned before

The best I can remember of him at Leeds Road was when we beat West Ham 4-2 in the Cup. He was absolutely brilliant that day and of course he went on to do even better with Leicester and Bolton. If he had joined Liverpool, no doubt he would've had more than the 8 England caps he got.

Sad news. I remember going to see him play in a friendly up here with my dad just purely to watch him.
I always thought it was for Portsmouth but looking at wiki it must have been Brighton. He was clearly a great player, fantastic mullet too.
His book was called "one hump or two" LOL

A wonderful, wonderful player to watch. He played the game as if he liked playing and loved having people watch him. Should have played far more than eight games for England.
Hibbee Jim's right, he was the type of player you'd go to a match simply to see. For me if it wasn't Frank it'd be Tony Currie, Matt Le Tissier, Jan Tigana, Socrates, Gerson or Cristiano Ronaldo, Best, Van Basten .......... those with a special presence ......... and from what those even older than me say, Tom Finney. Frank had magic about him, however he lived his life. You took one look at Frank Worthington and you thought centre forward.

Rip Frank worthington a fantastic player i once watched him single handedly pull a 2 goal deficit back for Leeds at Hillsborough with a packed away end going mental ..i will never forget that game.

I obviously wasn't old enough to watch him live, and only heard about his on and off field antics via the usual means. Only saw him on match day when he did the half time draws. He was asked by a fair few fans for photos and autographs and the poor guy didn't seem to know what was really going on but was more than obliging

Halifax lad like me, but born into a family of footballing brothers, unlike me. I made do with a paper round and a couple of goals in the Halifax Sunday League. He was the best of the Worthies by a long chalk. He was one of the best centre forwards England never picked often enough by a long chalk too.
When asked who was his toughest opponent - he always said his missus.
He scored many a fine goal for us but he'll always be remembered for THAT GOAL for Bolton.
As for the blood pressure thing at Liverpool - allegedly the nurse didn't have to do the test to see that his blood pressure was high, it was clearly apparent for her to see.
