Are the gloves on or off? - Devongone - 25-01-2021

So the big question, with Letheren off to seek gainful employment elsewhere, who gets the gloves at Boreham Wood?

Does Mr Rowe go with a young lad who is third choice behind a fairly-mistake prone if talented giant at Ipswich - Holy? Or does he choose Grant Smith against them, their own former star keeper?  Would that pressurise Smith or inspire him? It would certainly tell him the manager believes in him.

If he's fully-fit I'd go all the way with Grant Smith. It has to be a good sign the manager didn't fancy Letheren.

Football's decided by goals. Aside from the officials the only position involved in every goal scored either by commission, or omission, is the goalkeeper. My only worry with Grant Smith is nothing good happened for him after Boreham Wood. He was the best non-league keeper in the country at a time when a young Nick Pope was coming through. It wasn't a case of being the best of a bad bunch!

I wont even try to spell it but you know who I mean played well on Saturday. The only thing he did wrong was dive the wrong way for the pen.
Between him and yet another Smith we should have some good competition for once. No reason why they cant keep rotating as we have 2 games a week for the next month or so.
Just noticed we play Aldershot twice in 4 days and both away, I know its the luck of the draw but this league never ceases to amaze me.

Boreham Wood are the best team in the League at the moment. We are second. Last six games. Boreham have been sharp up front in away games, but they have hardly played at home and have struggled to score.

If he's fit I'd play the guy who has played for England, if he has been in training. A young player will sometimes come up with a peak display in a debut that he can't match next time.

This is a crazy league even when there isn't a pandemic. Aldershot seem to be thriving on it recently though.
