An astounding (though hard-fought) win at Molineux followed by a defeat at the Taxpayers Stadium leaves Albion still grasping for a lifeline in this last week of January. The performances have shown signs of improvement, though there's simply no chance of survival whatsoever if we continue to defend balls into the box the way we have done. In attack, Robert Snodgrass has given us something a bit different, and his absence was keenly felt down in London. Meanwhile, as we wait to see how the dice fall in the transfer market, we have two chances in the coming week to build on the derby-day triumph and get back in touch with the rest of the pack.

First up, Man City visit the Hawthorns on Tuesday night looking to return to the top of the table. Having defied them in the autumn and snatched an unlikely point, we know it can be done, but the likelihood of lightning striking twice seems remote. Still, in our position there are no write-offs, and Albion will have to be disciplined and hunt for whatever they can get.

We then bring the month to the close by hosting Fulham next Saturday, in a match which is absolutely must-win. Without a league victory since November, only a handful of draws have kept the Cottagers above us; they've scored just four goals in that time - one of them an own-goal - and have taken a 3-0 hammering off Burnley in the cup today to further undermine their confidence. It won't be easy, because six-pointers never are, but somehow Albion have got to dig deep next weekend for those precious points.

We need a few extra players and at least 6 points from the next three games - without that even the most optimistic of fan must accept that we are doomed.

Have a word with Cheltenham's Manager Mike Duff for tips on how to frighten Citeh! Whistle Whistle Tongue

Good write up Ska'd.

Also I believe we need at least 4 best 5pts to give us hope of staying up and then snatch more points to survive.
I hope we do and get better next season - with money - but wouldn't worry too much if we were in the Championship - again. Whistle

STAY SAFE Y'ALL

Maybe the wrong thread to post this on but I agree with BBB above - I'll always want us to win every game, but if/when we are in the Championship, I won't really be gutted or even disappointed. More 'real' football, less cheating; all told, more enjoyable.

3 changes furlong snodgrass and Grant For. Bartley. Gallagher and grosicki who is rumoured to be off.

O 1 terrible defending . But should we have had a penalty ?

VAR is an absolute f#%king joke.
As soon as we are out of this shit league the better.

RE: WBA vs Man City & Fulham - Match Thread - Baggie_One - 26-01-2021

Var was correct.

Ok so we beat wolves and I know the next few games are against the rest of us down the bottom so you might want to rest a few players, but hasn’t the management team figured this out yet ? Play your best team but play the players in the correct formation. I’m watching on BT, why is grant playing so defensive, yes it’s city and the will skip past us at ease. Painful to watch. Again. Play to the whistle, Johnstone may have saved the second. Oh and as for sawyers, you do not dilly dally in your box with the quality of the city players

This could be double figures, 4-0 at half time, yes it’s city - but we do not have the players to bother them, Gibbs, furlong, sawyers, grant ..... nothing to stop the continuous onslaught

RE: WBA vs Man City & Fulham - Match Thread - baggietrousers - 26-01-2021

Ok, I'll accept VAR was right, but why did she flag, why was there no check for the handball before they scored their first.

Clutching at straws granted, but so bloody infuriating watching such a pile of dross. Players out of position, constantly passing to the opposition, and as for Sawyers getting caught in possession again!!!! Yes its citeh, but a little pride and passion shouldn't be to much to ask for.
