RE: Jan 03: WBA 2018/19 Transfer Window - Blue Baggie - 17-01-2019

Sorry before anyone reads this - I was taking a back seat but had to respond to "Jenkins" latest statement.
A Conspiracy theory is now falling into place - no money to spend in the January window? - A Bank loan required now, as cash flow is at zero? - Expect 1 quality player to be sold now before the window closes. (Phillips/JRod/Dawson/Hegazi)? May answer why Fitzwater is staying? This now takes the pressure off the club as the fans demand for quality players investment now to help with a promotion push, can be ignored.
The new loan money that Jenkins declares has to be repaid in "June" - Means then No money will then be available for summer signings either?
Reduced Parachute payments by £10 million next season - Expect at least 2 more Quality players to leave to balance the books in the summer.
All great for building team spirit and confidence of our team and fans.
Now we can see why Mears - Tosin - Hoolahan - Sako - Holgate - Barnes - Gayle are all on loan, because we are not going to spend any money on new players unless we generate transfer funds by selling established players. No Guarantee has been given that any funds generated by sales will be made available to Darren to replace them. (as the Chadli sale clearly demonstrates) The policy is survive on a shoestring. Until the club has a new owner we're on our way down. How Lai thinks he's going to get his investment back with a shoestring plan is beyond me. Jenkins is going to turn WBA into the new Walsall? Major changes in ownership and running are needed or that's the end of WBA as a worthy club. That's the reality from where I'm stood.
Sadly this will become Darren's legacy. Not Lai or Jenkins, we know they're not interested one way or the other.
I will be keen to read what others think about which way they see the club going now.

Phil, I've got to say that it's hard to see things differently to you this time, and it certainly looks like bad times are just round the corner. This new owner obviously hasn't a clue, or any interest at all in the club.
As has been said above, all JP's declarations about only selling to the right kind of owner now looks like a big pile of poo.

Is the owner using WBA money to prop up other Business interests?

We can hardly be accused of splashing the cash on new players and our existing squad are theoretically on half wages, so what the hell is going on?

Have other forms of income (season tickets, shirt sales, ) seen a dramatic drop in income?

I am beginning to think that Jeremy made a serious misjudgement when vetting our present owner.

I don't have the statistics to hand and the situation in the championship won't be the same as the premier league, but I'm fairly certain that ticket and shirts sales make up a small part of any football club's budget nowadays, and you probably couldn't fund much from them alone. Have to agree that i'm not convinced about the owner though. Still think our current position is reasonable considering how dire we looked for so much of last season.

Sorry Baird, it’s the complete opposite of what you say!! Ticket and commercial revenue are by far the biggest revenue generator that clubs have in the Championship!! Our revenue last year was 24m, 16m of which came from ticket sales. The tv money down here I believe is approx 2-3m per season. The only teams where tv money is higher than ticket sales are the teams relegated from the PL and getting parachute payments. You guys won’t be in this situation for another two seasons because of those payments, after that you are reliant on the fans to generate revenue even with a wealthy owner!!

Where is all this stuff about finances? Can't see it on the club site.

A lot of rumours on twitter about Tyrone Mings from Bournemouth on loan and sending Tossin back to City.
And in a new twist it seems Luton thinks Jones may take the Managerial job after all. He initially rejected the job Doh

Alan Nixon has just tweeted Harvey Barnes wants to return to WBA for the rest of the season Big Grin

#wba are interested in a loan deal for #afcb defender Tyrone Mings. Baggies well stocked in defence, but getting Mings would allow for departures. Whether he can be convinced is another matter

RE: Jan 03: WBA 2018/19 Transfer Window - WBA-Josh - 18-01-2019

Mings in on loan makes no sense unless Gibbs or Townsend are on the way out. If Gibbs was to be moved forward to left wing then Mings in and no departures would be ok on that side.

I would love to see Harvey Barnes stick two fingers up at Puel and ask to return to us for the rest of the season.

Jones to Luton would be a good chance for him to make his name as a number 1. I think he’ll stay and I’d rather he stay and assist Darren though because his work has improved the attacking side of our game.
