Especially because Leko is a direct, attacking player. The problem with the Premier League is that it's difficult to give young players opportunity, because of the huge money involved. Leko has looked excellent at times, but also shown signs of naivety - like when he was dispossessed dribbling in an important position against Palace at home last year, and they went on to score and make it 2-0. Sending him out on loan will give him to learn the trade in a (slightly) less pressured environment where mistakes aren't often as fatal. If he excels there, it can only be good for us. Likewise, if he turns out to be a flash in the pan, we haven't taken any risks finding out. So I guess there is a method to it, although it's understandably disappointing. RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (24 August) - drewks - 28-08-2017 OOOOOOOWSHTT! Now talking of the £30 million valuation of Evans being met tomorrow... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/08/28/manchester-city-face-competition-leicester-30million RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (24 August) - Imre varadi - 28-08-2017 Have i missed something here ? 23million pound for a carthorse of a defender WTF ??? pure madness ! Are you talking about Evans? Because if so, don't think you've ever seen him play... Quick, good on the ball, composed, plenty of experience. If he has a slight weakness, it would be aerial, but a cart horse he certainly isn't. RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (24 August) - Beefy 1965 - 29-08-2017 West Brom agree £10.6m fee for Fenerbahce's Josef de Souza - Turkish media By Matt Wilson | West Bromwich Albion | Published: 4 hours ago Albion have agreed a fee of £10.6million with Fenerbahce for Josef de Souza, according to reports in Turkey. Has he suddenly become good then ? its a serious question because i havnt seen him play for WBA only for Man utd and he was pure shit ! RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (24 August) - wba1978 - 29-08-2017 Seriously think we should be looking at Jota from Brentford as a potential Chadli replacement. 8 mil is the quoted price. 12 goals 5 assists in 21 outings is good, even if it is in the Championship. Could potentially end up being a bargain. ![]() RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (29 August) - Stairs - 29-08-2017 Updated headline to thread including Beefy's latest info - taken lots of linked players out and put them in Gone/Missed. Exciting few days ahead and to be fair I think this time around, the club has been doing good business - just a few final touches...... Was he? Sir Alex Ferguson didn't seem to think so. He played over 100 times for a top notch Man Utd team. Including 40 games the year they came 2nd in 11/12 and 30 games when they won the league in 12/13. The problem he had was that the defensive partnership before him was Vidic and Ferdinand, who were 2 of the best in the world. Because of that, his occasional mistake was scrutinised. He's a Rolls Royce compared to some of the defenders they have had since though; the likes of Smalling, Rojo and Blind. The difference is, the expectation at Utd is far lower than the era when Evans played there. He's got all the attributes a centre half needs - he's quick, passes the ball excellently, calm, composed and has a nasty streak. With the exception of Kompany, he's far better than the other centre backs at Man City. |
