RE: Jan 03: WBA 2018/19 Transfer Window - Slick_Footwork - 09-01-2019 I'd be happy for all of them to go out on loan, if a midfielder comes in. If not, I'd like Harper to stay as back up. Field has played a couple of times this year and looked very poor IMO. From what I've seen, he looks a lower league player so there's no way we can chance him in the first team at the moment. A loan will be a good opportunity to see if he's actually any good. With Burke going, it might be worth keeping Leko as cover, but at the same time, he's well down the pecking order. He showed glimpses on Saturday but also showed massive moments of nativity when in good positions. He needs to play more to learn the game and he's not learning much when he's not even getting on the bench for the first team. RE: Jan 03: WBA 2018/19 Transfer Window - Blue Baggie - 10-01-2019 (09-01-2019, 23:14)WBA-Josh Wrote: https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/they-need-improve-west-brom-15651937 If it's loans for fitness and game time for Field & Leko I'm fine with that, Harper is a different aspect altogether. Another MAJOR mistake from Darren I'm not going to say anymore at the moment. With this and no younger quality signings our task grows more difficult. RE: Jan 03: WBA 2018/19 Transfer Window - BaggieSteve - 10-01-2019 I apologise for something I said earlier but I really question the value of having the Academy, if these rumours of loaning out the young players turns out to be true. We have a midfield that, in terms of age, is creaking at the seams and which, I feel, would benefit from the injection of younger and fresher legs, not necessarily to start but certainly to be available from the bench. I can only assume that Darren believes the current, older squad is sufficient to achieve promotion this season and that their experience and age will carry them through. If he fails to achieve it, I'm not sure where it leaves him because if the existing team does not go up this season, it certainly won't do so next season and they will be another year older; at which point, as Phil points out, we may have lost a number of the younger talents and Darren will have wasted a season when he could have brought some of them through. Right now, if I was Harper, I'd be seriously questioning the club's interest in my future. RE: Jan 03: WBA 2018/19 Transfer Window - Borders Baggie - 10-01-2019 Not a player this time but Sky Sports reporting that Luton Town want to speak to Graeme Jones as they look to replace Nathan Jones who took over at Stoke. After leaving his position with Belgium under Roberto Martinez to work with Big Dave, be interesting to see how this pans out and if he fancies being his ‘own man’. RE: Jan 03: WBA 2018/19 Transfer Window - Beefy 1965 - 11-01-2019 Now Harvey Barnes as gone surley we must keep Harper and get him settled into the side. Major decisions need to be made quickly or we will struggle to make the playoffs let alone automatic. We need a midfielder a Harvey Barnes type off the continent if we have to play less and I think a tall striker. I think we will see what our chairman thinks about the club by January the 31st

We will be linked with every decent up and coming player between 17 - 22. I would give this one a shot though https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/west-brom-arsenal-transfers-barnes-15667972 RE: Jan 03: WBA 2018/19 Transfer Window - Blue Baggie - 12-01-2019 Phillips ankle knock and no show for the Dubai trip has now turned into a potential transfer to Burnley for £18 million. RE: Jan 03: WBA 2018/19 Transfer Window - baggietrousers - 13-01-2019 If they sell Phillips this window then this season has gone and it will be years of championship (or lower) obscurity. That's not an over reaction just the certainty that there will be a mass exodus of the best we have when the season ends without promotion. |
