Injuries permitting and we perform like that against Man City, we could come away with something.
A nice three points would be good preparation for Southampton.

That said, in all the years I’ve been supporting West Brom, we always seem to play well against better teams and crap against inferior ones we should easily beat.

It was the type of commentary you'd expect from an England International to all England viewers.

Who gives a f*ck? B*llocks to 'em. Big hangover awaits!

Scouser Steve MacManaman was the twat co-commentator on BT Sport - the way he commentated there was only one team on the pitch. According to him Liverpool were poor, no mention of the Baggies only let them be poor. At least Clipperty gave us credit in his post-match interview saying we deserved it. Shock and horror!

Now Saft.... ‘Big Hangover’ ?  remember what your nurse said !

Laugh

Titanic effort from the team tonight; absolutely ran themselves into the ground, then clung on for the last twenty when they were wading through treacle. That is a genuine all-time classic Albion cup tie, right up there with Chelsea '69, Forest '78, etc.

Sadly, VAR shows the shape of things to come, and it's not pretty. In future, teams like Albion will get every set-piece goal forensically analyzed for five minutes before it's allowed to stand, and it'll be ruled out for the slightest reason. When you're playing a megabucks team who can score at will from open play, that doesn't make the game fairer, it makes the playing field all the more uneven. 99 times out of 100, Dawson's header would have stood tonight because Barry's half-lunge at the ball had no serious effect on play in real time. Us minnows are going to get shafted by this tech on a regular basis, and we'll have the joy of hearing media arseholes tell us "but they made the *right* decision!" every step of the way.

Then you've got the emotional aspect. Could barely even celebrate our (actual) third goal when it went in, because I knew they were going to put us through the VAR wringer again. By the time they gave it, the moment had long gone. I honestly don't see how this will make for a better or fairer game.

But hey ho, we had a happy ending, and I'm all for celebrating tonight. May need a VAR in the morning to work out what actually happened after the sixth pint Big Grin

Agree with you Ska'd - this was an epic cup tie to match many in the "glory glory" cup era of the 60's.
The pride, passion and commitment of all the players was so old fashioned, it was fantastic to see! I thought JRod was exceptional tonight,  but to single out one player is maybe wrong on a night where a real TEAM did us - and maybe Cyrille - proud.
Certainly made me proud, and even more convinced that we can stay up. The improvement in the last 6 weeks or so has been huge - let's hope this fab result/performance can give us the belief to turn the improvement into points

(Will I wake up tomorrow to find this has all been a fantastic dream??)

LOL Danny Murphy on MOTD said the VAR benefited us because it disrupted Liverpool's flow! I sprayed Bathams all over my laptop when I heard that!

All headlines are about VAR.......what a suprise!
Credit to Klopp tho - saying we deserved the win.
Doesn't the press just pass you off tho?  Angry
