Hello
Hello
Joey Mayo
Joey Mayo

(to Gary Glitter's "Good to be back")

He was quite a character, and wasn't too self-important to mind wearing the no.3 shirt during our promotion year. (Cantello was temporarily moved to left-back, but wanted to wear 4.) So we had the tallest centre forward in the 2nd Division wearing 3 - surprised it fitted him!

Asa hole in the heart Hartford ?

OK, this one lived 3 doors away from my grandad.
He had big hands and bushy black eyebrows.
He would have been an England regular if it hadn't been for the star player of a certain local rival...

No, he wasn't a goalkeeper.
After an illustrious football career he spent the rest of his working life in a local factory, which may be why he had those big hands! He died at his machine aged 60. He was originally from the north-west, somewhere in the vicinity of the beautiful lake district.

You are getting closer ..... but Ray Barlow was a newsagent in Stourbridge, and he didn't have big hands!

So I was told, this fellow was on the pitch in that historical England 3 Hungary 6 match......he also kept racing pigeons.

So played around the 50s, probably died in the 90s.

Joe Kennedy?

RE: WHO AM I? - Bierzo Baggie - 01-09-2015

Yep, Joe Kennedy, well done!
Billy Wright always kept him out the England team.
He was a non-playing 12th man in the England-Hungary match and ran on the pitch with the magic sponge.
I'm not old enough to remember any of this first hand by the way, but I did meet Joe a few times when I was a little lad.
