Liverpool's relative success last season was due to having less matches than their rivals. This season, no doubt, they will do less well in the PL because of the extra matches of the CL. However, if there is money to be made then footballing logic goes out of the window. RE: The Other Football Related issue's Thread...yes PEI...FOOTBALL, NOT Corrie!! - Maddix - 03-10-2014 Does anyone have any thoughts on the Blackpool situation ? It was bound to be a roller-coaster ride I'll get me coat The dim and distant past seems to tell me that we have had a few protests against the board/club, no shoe throwing or owt like that though , and I distinctly remember the 'Buy a Brick' campaign to try and save our club.My thoughts are that I don't see why fans of other clubs are castigating the Blackpool fans for planning a mass walk-out on 53 minutes. It will not hit the club financially as they have already shown their support by paying to get in and in their situation, after a trip to the land of Milk and Honey, I'd like our chairman to explain why we can't afford xxxx all, with the parachute payments still in place, too When you look at the likes of Burnley, who are only down the road a bit and didn't go too mad first time round, who re-invested the Lotto millions wisely to bounce back then I can understand the Blackpool fans frustration. I would expect Burnley to be relegated this season but if they keep spending wisely, and yo-yoing, sooner or later they will have enough cash to go up and compete. Strikes me that Oyston has asset stripped the club and hasn't even spent a few quid on a paddle ![]() PS The twats never posted my brick Is it still in the post
RE: The Other Football Related issue's Thread...yes PEI...FOOTBALL, NOT Corrie!! - St Charles Owl - 03-10-2014 Completely agree Maddix, Oyston may have been owner for a long time but that surprise promotion to the Prem should have given them the platform to at least compete in the Championship!! He has to be simply pocketing the money, his prerogative as he owns the club, but he shouldn't expect the fans to simply accept the farce they currently are!! Not sure what good the protests will do though because how do you remove an owner? There has to be a buyer to do that and in their current state I cannot for the life of me imagine there is a queue to invest in them currently!! I feel for the players in this situation, its not there fault as nearly all of them are new to the club, but I suppose they will just have to be professional about it and get on with their job!! From what they are saying on the BBC it doesn't appear that too many fans left on the arranged 53 minutes mark!! If thats the case then as fan protests go it much ado about nothing!!! |
