Totally agree, Vic. I’m sure there will Albion fans who will gloat at this outcome (not on this board I should quickly add) but I feel desperately sorry for the guy. Hopefully he can turn his career around with a few seasons injury free; if we were to sell Furlong - as some speculation suggests - should we consider bringing him back, assuming he’s now fit and healthy?

I wouldn't object to that, though I'm sure he'd have an uphill task winning some fans over and people would be quick to jump on any mistake.

There is no doubt he is an excellent prospect, but I don't think I would want him back, he has already demonstrated when the bright lights call, he will be gone. But more importantly would you sign Dike knowing what you know now about how prone he is to injury ? I think Fergusson has played even less than Dike and what does it say when your club gives a 33 year old a new contract in your position and releases you?

I wouldn’t have a problem with his commitment. The guy was young and probably badly advised (shades of Berahino), an agent telling him how much more he could get paid etc. I suspect he had his head turned and it didn’t work out. I do agree about his long term fitness, it’s an obvious concern and we shouldn’t remotely consider him unless we could guarantee his future availability. That, in itself, would probably be the problem

I'd give him a chance on a play and pay wage, but only if Furlong goes. Guess it's up to Carlos. The club did well out of him IMO. Sadly things didn't work out for him. Big losers were Palace and himself.

England's performance against Iceland was pathetic. Should have left Greasy in the squad. He can change games. Southgate has removed the creative flare and left us with a dull difficult team to beat. His time must be up, time for a change.

More rumoured to be leaving and the only real possible in coming player so far is Mickey Johnson. But £6m - will teams have sussed him out, will he be so effective next season.

Well, you'd hope he would spend the summer working on other options. That may be over-optimistic.

I mean options in how he plays, not other clubs, by the way!

RE: 2024 (Shilen Patel) Summer Transfer Window Thread - Blue Baggie - 11-06-2024

I'd move on from Johnston. £6m is a joke nobody will pay that for him. I'm tired of loans who make a major effort for a few games and we sign them only to find out they can't maintain it. Or even worse take it easy once the ink has dried on the contract. We need a few players especially strikers. Let's see who we can get for free before spending millions.

Has everyone gone on holiday?
Sad that no one has anything to say.
