RE: WBA 2018/19 January Xfer Window - baggietrousers - 01-01-2019 if Barnes is recalled then we have serious issues if we want to get promoted. You would hope that if there is a likelihood of him going back to Leicester then the clubs would be in early talks to a least give us the chance of finding a replacement in January. Unfortunately this is us all over, rely heavily on one player, who is on loan, and can go pretty much at any time, with no plan B or back up. Well impressed with Mason signing though, even if it is another loan. If he does go back, it will be interesting to see how they manage the formation without him - will they reconsider a loan for Burke, will they consider playing Leko or will they completely change the approach and not try to replace like for like? The biggest frustration will be if he goes back to Leicester and then sits in the bench for the rest of the season RE: Jan 02: WBA 2018/19 Transfer Window - baggietrousers - 03-01-2019 the thought of losing both Barnes and Phillips in this window is deeply worrying. If one of them goes that's bad, but both would be a disaster. Let's hope it's just the usual press junk we've all come to expect in January RE: Jan 03: WBA 2018/19 Transfer Window - Baggievicar - 04-01-2019 BBC reckon (so it's probably wrong) that we and the Vile are after Kortney Hause from Wolves. Anyone know anything about him at all? RE: Jan 03: WBA 2018/19 Transfer Window - drewks - 04-01-2019 James Mccarthy in, Oliver Burke out? https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2019/01/04/do-report-oliver-burkes-celtic-switch-could-be-accelerated-by-we/ (can't help feeling that we'll end up with a load of egg on our faces regarding Burke. Oh well - it happens I suppose. ..... why aren't Misserableborough linked??) RE: Jan 03: WBA 2018/19 Transfer Window - Baggievicar - 04-01-2019 We've been linked McCarthy almost as often as we used to be with Chris Baird. The whole Olly Burke signing stinks somewhat to me - it did then at the time and it still does now. I wonder who the management were who promoted that deal to buy him. ![]() He was labelled by a certain person as being “one for the future”. Wonder if there were any brown envelopes being passed around. RE: Jan 03: WBA 2018/19 Transfer Window - Blue Baggie - 04-01-2019 Our star players who stayed to help get promotion on half wages wont hang about forever? With the club failing to invest any serious funds improving the squad, we cant blame them for reviewing their options. Our 2 best players are loanee's. Most PL club could afford to double their salaries of any of our players. I expect us to lose a couple of them in this window. Not good news, but it's reality. Further loans are not what we need, it's proper investment and a push for the top or forget promotion and start building a team around the youngsters. It's make your mind up time Mr Lai & Mr Jenkins - Promotion or the wilderness.
