RE: WBA 2018/19 January Xfer Window - Blue Baggie - 06-12-2018 Is he available on a free? Forget it then. If we want to sign Gayle or Barnes we need to save all our pennies. And probably sell a couple more established players. We have NO spare cash. This idea of Darren having a treasure chest is a Pirates of the Caribbean dream. With the parachute payments we have enough to balance the books that's it. What we need is a wealthy owner who is interested and has a bit of cash to invest in the team. Lai is probably reluctant to spend any money after a £40 million splash last year saw us relegated. If we want to sign Gayle or Barnes we need to save all our pennies. And probably sell a couple more established Signing Barnes is a pipe dream imo. There's no way Leicester would even consider selling him at the moment. Personally I think they think he's got the potential to be a top player. And they're right. Unfortunately its gonna take some clever signings from lower leagues or from abroad, as Josh has mentioned previously, to try and rebuild for the seasons to come if we cant gain promotion this season. If we can... then its time again to throw the silly money around again I guess? ![]() RE: WBA 2018/19 January Xfer Window - Blue Baggie - 06-12-2018 (06-12-2018, 10:59)wba1978 Wrote:Your probably right about Barnes - Gayle could be a possible with the Rondon money - that's if he wants to stay.(06-12-2018, 10:00)Phil Penn Wrote: Is he available on a free? And probably sell a couple more established We don't have any other money to throw around - the pot be empty. ![]() We have a DoF and a head of recruitment lets hope they turn up a couple of bargains - they are out there. e.g. "Dack" only cost Blackburn £850,000 18 months ago, we just need to find a couple of guys like him. If we don't get promoted we need to save £10M next year and £30M following year and £15M after that as the parachute payments dry up. If we stay down we wont be able to keep our good players never mind throw money around. RE: WBA 2018/19 January Xfer Window - BaggieMan - 06-12-2018 Pirates of the Caribbean! Brought back a few memories Phil. My son and family including 3 year old grandson went to Disneyworld Florida in October. He’s nuts on pirates at the min and thought it was amazing which it is and probably the best ride in the Magic Kingdom. He insists on being called ‘Cap’n Hook at the moment! Experience, youthful exuberance and steadily improving / maturing quality players. Keep signing oldies they will keep needing to be replaced ....... stairs, how many players do we have that our approaching, at or past the end of the road and need to replaced within two years ....... Last season's disappointment was an ideal time to sweep clean and build foundations, we're still building on ground of sand.
