RE: 2014-15 Second Half & January Transfer Window - Was Wereham Owl - 30-03-2015 Personally .. and that is ME only (lol), I want SG to get out, a decent TACTICALLY aware MANAGER (No DOF), someone who knows players , tactics etc..not asking for much, Wenger would be great or the Chelsea guy, no need for a DOF then, if a MANAGER can do his job properly then that's all that is needed, we are never going to get that calibre of manager ,. but there are ppl out there that know their stuff, tempt a younger one with his first managerial position .. gotta be worth a punt IMHO .. or someone like Moyes .. think he would do a great job for us .. too much for him at Manure , but at SWFC , maybe he would exceed what he achieved at Everton ?? RE: 2014-15 Second Half & January Transfer Window - St Charles Owl - 30-03-2015 I don't disagree with that Wereham, problem though is as you say getting the right guy is the tough part!! We could take a punt on a younger upcoming manager and it could in reality go either way!! Getting an experienced manager in doesn't always work but we have to be more attractive as a job than we have been for 20 odd years, so you never know!! Not sure Moyes will leave La Liga for the Championship though!!! If SG stayed and if the coaching/managerial staff was improved then I would be ok with that but it would have to be a short leash!! Has DC said what he intends with regards to a DoF?? I know MM mentioned it but don't remmeber DC saying anything on it. He was told that Wednesday had accepted an offer for him & he wasn't part of SG's plans two days before the Brighton match. He was devastated & she was part way through her degree course at Manchester so it has made her travelling worse. SG was so determined to get May that he was prepared to sacrifice Antonio. Wasn't this deal done at the time when the Mammadov deal was in the throws of collapsing?? I doubt DC was even in talks at that stage anyway, so MM was probably in the state of mind that there was likely to be no immediate takeover so the May deal had to be financed through a sale. Our defence isn't as great as the early season statistics suggested. We have the best keeper in the division by a mile & WEstwood has saved us about 20 goals compared to Kirkland. Without Westwood, we would be in the bottom four now & SG 's fate would be sorted. RE: 2014-15 Second Half & January Transfer Window - St Charles Owl - 31-03-2015 Last time I looked Westwood was part of our defence!!! Where we have suffered is the loss of Loovens, which has seen Lees performances drop and the defence has conceded more goals as a result, but I think on the whole the defence has performed very well. Yes he was, but also by all accounts he was forced into that decision by MM insisting on selling someone before we could buy May. It wasn't an ideal situation for any manager to be in and with hindsight it certainly hasn't worked out as anyone hoped it would, but that was where we were at financially at the start of the season, now we start with a different mindset with regards to how we buy and sell players. MS, here is something that was posted by you just after Antonio left for Forest. Not having a dig or anything but I thought it would be interesting to see what we have achieved since then: 1) No new scoreboard ![]() 2) Tired old ground ![]() 3) Star player sold ![]() 4) Lack of pace throughout the side (just Helan) ![]() 5) Competing with Rotherham for unproven striker ![]() 6) Still haven't received ST when I paid in March ![]() 7) No away kit yet ![]() 8) Home kit quality problems ![]() 9) Team lacks quality & depth ![]() ![]() 10) MM doesn't know what is happening ![]() 11) Takeover appears to be falling through ![]() I think most would agree that we have basically stood still this season, although never being near relegation was a bonus. But the last line should see that all change now!! My point is that our back four wasn't that great early in the season and only Westwood's great saves have prevented us being bottom four. While Westwood is part of the defence, my concern is that we are still conceding as many shots as we were when Llera & Reda were around. We haven't suddenly gone bad since Looven got injured; the signs have been there all season but we got away with it early on (we had seven shots hit our woodwork and two missed penalties in the opening eight matches). I agree that MM put SG in the position where he had to choose between Antonio & May and much as I think May will come good, it was a bad choice. This puts into question SG's judgement with DC's millions. The issues relating to the ground will gradually be solved by the new owner. I really cannot include loan signings as part of our squad because come May, they are gone & we are back to where we were. Our squad of players is weaker now than it was back in August when Antonio was sold. Thankfully we have the financial muscle to address this but we will underachieve while SG is in charge. The SG apologists will say he is an excellent coach. I struggle to see it. Which players at S6 have improved massively under SG? Sure, we have conceded less goals but totally at the expense of scoring. We have the most boring & sterile team since the mid 70s and unfortunately it looks like next season will be sacrificed giving SG a chance. RE: 2014-15 Second Half & January Transfer Window - Thurnscoe_OWL - 31-03-2015 How's Antonio's birds travelling worse if they're still living in Sheffield? ![]() RE: 2014-15 Second Half & January Transfer Window - madsteve - 31-03-2015 (31-03-2015, 10:43)Thurnscoe_OWL Wrote: How's Antonio's birds travelling worse if they're still living in Sheffield? She watches the majority of his matches so half of them are in Nottingham rather than Sheffield. Ideally, he would live close to the training ground. Now he has to travel & she has to travel. Hardly ideal. The main point was that they planned for at least four years at Wednesday and SG spoilt that for them so they had to make last minute changes that they didn't want to make. I'm not defending SG at all but that is pretty poor planning on their behalf. As a professional football player/couple they should have planned for the unexpected ![]() ![]() RE: 2014-15 Second Half & January Transfer Window - Thurnscoe_OWL - 31-03-2015 she could move her credits to another uni and finish there. Why did she not go to either of the sheffield unis? why not just become a proper wag, like all the other women do, and live off of Antonio's presumed more than 9k a week? (sorry people, that last one was slightly sexist. Women are apparently allowed to have careers as well. They'll be allowed to vote next) RE: 2014-15 Second Half & January Transfer Window - madsteve - 01-04-2015 The Sheffield Unis didn't do the course she wanted. She is bright & intelligent and wants to develop her career. It is a sad world when people are ridiculed for trying to better themselves. Worse still they are subjected to abuse on twitter when it was SG that made Antonio move and not Antonio's choice. |
