RE: WBA vs Palace - Match Thread - Squirrel Regis - 26-10-2014 With the Blues getting smashed 0-8 was thinking the biggest wins and loses I have seen re the Albion. Liverpool beat us 6-0 at the shrine on a Boxing Day and remember us doing Barnsley 7-0 and a non league team... Harlow ? 8-0 in FA cup. Can anyone beat those ? I saw Albion beat Burnley 8-1 at The Hawthorns in the old First Division in I think the 1966-67 season. We were 5-0 up at half-time. The Burnley centre-half that day was John Talbut. We bought him and he was in our FA Cup winning team the following season. RE: WBA vs Palace - Match Thread - Squirrel Regis - 26-10-2014 Hiya Aries, Yep fair play, that beats my 7-0 in the league. You are winning so far ! RE: WBA vs Palace - Match Thread - bomberbrown1968 - 26-10-2014 Remember Ipswich doing us 7-0 at Portman Rd with the likes of Brazil,Mariner, Wark, Mills and Talbot in their side ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Oh and we did Coventry 7-0 when they wore chocolate brown shirts ![]() RE: WBA vs Palace - Match Thread - talkSAFT - 26-10-2014 Hey, Josh. I live in St.Ives. Was in the Royal Standard opposite Philps Pasties last week. I pop in there every 2-3 weeks. Wear your Baggies top around Town, and I'll buy you a pint. RE: WBA vs Palace - Match Thread - Squirrel Regis - 26-10-2014 Bomber, Ouch I've been to Ipswich and we lost 1-4 but that must have been a long trip home ! My memory of Brian Talbot was him doing great as caretaker/player manager then getting the job and being dreadful ! Talbot with Alladyce as assistant for the Woking FA cup game still makes me cringe ! We beat Marlow 6-0 in the first round of the cup in '91 and Aylesbury 8-0 in '92. I was at both, and until the floodgates opened, the tension at the prospect of another "Woking" was palpable! Bomber, that 7-0 defeat at Ipswich was largely the influence of Trevor Whymark. He ran riot that night, and Ossie was left in no man's land. It's not pretty viewing, but the TV cameras were there. As for Saturday? Glad for the point in the end. Really need to try and make up for it with a win against either Leicester or Newcastle, though. RE: WBA vs Palace - Match Thread - Squirrel Regis - 26-10-2014 Ska'd My memory isn't what it used to be ! Yes Aylesbury it was. Woking has to be one of the lowest days of us supporting the baggies. The name Tim Buzaglo still haunts me.... But albion fans being amongst the best in the country still showed their class by giving Woking a standing ovation didn't we. Really hope we can get a result on Tuesday a cup run would be brilliant. RE: WBA vs Palace - Match Thread - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 26-10-2014 Not just a standing ovation; Tim Buzaglo being hoisted up on the shoulders of Albion fans and given a hero's exit! We also applauded the Woking supporters coaches as they left Halfords Lane. I maintain to this day that you'd never see that kind of response to such a humiliating defeat at Molineux, and probably not at a lot of other grounds either. The worst of days, but it really was class from the fans. I wasn't there that day, but it did me proud to read of all that, Tim Buzaglo being shouldered off the pitch by Baggies fans, etc. Wolves fans often point to this defeat as a shameful episode in Albion's history, completely forgetting the sportsmanship we showed to Woking. It's something Wolves fans would never do, and it's one of the reasons why I'm proud to be a Baggie. Sadly, we couldn't replicate that in the play-off final against Derby! |
