Disagree, we dominated the second half and had an equal share of the first!! Stupid defending cost us the early goal, after which they created only a couple of decent chances. Better crossing and better finishing would have seen us take all three points!! RE: The Owls v Sunderland Match Thread SBC - Owlkev71 - 16-08-2017 Dominated Charlie?? Sunderland seemed comfortable until we scored, it was only after the goal that we looked like we might win. This is two games on the trot when we have dominated playing that way!! You can perm any three from the four strikers we have but we play best with that formation. SCCCCCCCCCCCCCCRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM The whole 4-4-f'ucking-2 business is what most of us saw as being the wrong way at the start of LAST season Chaz ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: The Owls v Sunderland Match Thread SBC - St Charles Owl - 16-08-2017 They had one attempt on target in the second half and hardly troubled Westwood. That game changed when Fletcher came on at HT, from that point on nearly all the attacking threat was from us. We ended up with 63% possession, 17 attempts to their 8 with 4 on target for us v 2 for them, so double the possession, attempts, shots on target and 3 times the corners. As i said, better final ball and better finishing would have seen us win easily. RE: The Owls v Sunderland Match Thread SBC - Imre varadi - 16-08-2017 we are going to get xxxx mullered on saturday Fulham will be 3 up before HT !! and Rhodes missed yet another sitter by the way !! waste of feffing money Nuhui would have least headed the ball on target all be it to the keepers hands ![]() RE: The Owls v Sunderland Match Thread SBC - Owlkev71 - 16-08-2017 But that's how teams setup against us. They sit deep and lets us have the ball and play on the counter attack, we will have more possession and (probably) have more chances. So why don't we start 4-3-3 with Fletch and be in front instead of chasing a point every week ![]() ![]() I still genuinely think that we will be dragged into the relegation scrap and any thought of auto will be gone by the international break. I hope I'm wrong. RE: The Owls v Sunderland Match Thread SBC - St Charles Owl - 16-08-2017 All strikers miss sitters, Hooper also missed one tonight, but in the second half we finally at least gave the strikers some decent service, if we keep doing that then Fletcher, Hooper and especially Rhodes will score goals!! If we continue to starve them and only give them one or two chances per game like in the first half then they will struggle to score many at all. If we play like we did in the second half from the start then we will win far more games than we lose. We have to strikers to score goals, lets use them properly. We used to play more 433 at home and 451 away from home, to great success, we need to get back to that. If as Kev says teams are happy to sit deep and let us come at them then fine, lets hit them with cross after cross and let our strikers do their job. I worry that CC won't change that but maybe with FF not being involved we can do this more often, he was the problem in a 433 because he wouldn't play on the left of a three and wanted to be a striker when we played 442, its time to stop building the formation around him and use what we have properly. We won't be anywhere near the relegation places but its getting harder by the match if we truly have ambitions to be up near the top. I too hope you are wrong and I am right on this!! But we won't ![]() ![]() AND THAT IS THE POINT WE HAVE ALL BEEN MAKING SINCE THE HULL GAME ![]() RE: The Owls v Sunderland Match Thread SBC - Owlkev71 - 16-08-2017 Start with 433, we can only hope. I'm not expecting him to play it every game, but if you have several formations and varying tactics it will make opposition managers have to think when playing us. |
