Yeah he's gone to Portsmouth. But rumour is Roberts could be coming back. http://www.derbyshiretimes.co.uk/sport/football/chesterfield-fc/caldwell-has-eyed-return-for-ex-spireite-currently-looking-at-two-trialists-1-8710523 RE: Wow ! - bluepooch - 18-08-2017 Barry slowly in decline ??? He's 22 !! Dev he would be playing Rowley if he was fit ,apart from him none of them are good enough AT THE MOMENT i.m.o and they will only become good enough with game time ,how GC decides to introduce this game time is open to debate . The way some of the senior members are performing it will be sooner rather than later that these lads get their chance or you would guess so but second guessing any managers thoughts are difficult. Dancing, in answer to your question why is GC bringing other teams youngsters in before our own ,its probably because AT THE MOMENT he thinks they are better than our youngsters and therefore will improve the team. Id LOVE to be right too Dev . My team for tomorrow.3 5 2 Anyon (unless Lee fit) Wiseman Hird Evo Barry Mcourt Sinnott Reed Flores O G Dennis Im suggesting 352 because basically we havent got a left back unless Flores is one ,Maguire hasnt exactly pulled any trees up there. RE: Wow ! - Dancingwilldoit - 18-08-2017 Blue, How do you know our youngsters aren't good enough, they just don't stand a chance. Its a fact that most of our first team squad wasn't good enough last season so GC ships in a load of other teams youngsters who failed miserably. If they are good enough to be offered a pro contract by us then they are good enough to play in our first team, at least give them a chance and see. If not then why give them pro terms? If Flores isn't good enough for Wigans first team, what makes him good enough for us? RE: Wow ! - bluepooch - 18-08-2017 Dancing ,Wigan probably have a budget 4 x ours and I would guess that the reason Flores struggles to get in ,because they have better players and more competition than us .Ive no idea how good he is but I am surprised we've got him and I'm wondering whether Cook and Caldwell have had an influence.Maybe he isnt progressing as he is a name that has been bandied around as promising for a while. I do know that the youngsters need to have an impact ,we cant afford to wait for them develop into fully fledged first teamers ,Rowley is the only one who has done this and Wakefield is on the verge,German needs more game time either as an impact sub ,in the friendlies like in midweek or perhaps a loan . I cant see us going for Roberts ,he will be 32 and we have signed Flores in that type of role and Binnon Williams will be back in October .I'm sure he could still be an influence at this level but just cant see it . RE: Wow ! - Devongone - 19-08-2017 Released by Swindon the season after winning Player of the Season, that's a big step down. Picked up by Chesterfield is last chance saloon, or maybe you think we are a bigger club in a bigger town than Swindon. The eight players I listed are on a downward trajectory because they have no transfer value and are unlikely to create themselves such a value. Ugwu might if he scored 15 this season, but that's beginning to look unlikely, Donohue has proved he's wanted and if Dennis started scoring he'd have a value too. Even Tommy's worth nowt now. (Apparently Flores CAN play full back .... ish) The youngsters are a different thing. They CAN create themselves a value for the club. We've only played German against non-league opposition this season, but every time he has played the team has scored at least 4. GC has never played him competitively, so how does he (or you) know Ricky's not up to it? The crowd has applauded Charlie Wakefield from the field this season, how many others have they done that for in GC's time? Joe Rowley had a couple of good games. I'm hoping he can repeat that, but remember Craig Clay, comes on to the field, heroically hauls the team back to the most unlikely draw against Crewe - didn't make it with us, been around, then to Grimsby, up to Motherwell, now he's on the bench for an Orient conceding 6 at Bromley. Didn't he develop, or didn't we give him the chances when he was ready and needed them? How are we going to treat Joe when he's fit? Will we make him a man, or will he become that boy who burned bright for a couple of games and got forgotten? Then there's Maguire, we proved last season our centre backs didn't work. We've loaned in Anderson (TWICE!!!!!)..... and now they are good enough? That's dreamtime, quick teams will always exploit them. (I dunno if Maguire's good enough or quick enough, but together Hird and Evatt aren't the solution, so is it Jay Smith, is it Conor Fowler or Ify Ofoegbu? Or are we off to market?) By the way, despite his age I'd give Roberts serious thought because he makes goals and scores a few too. In our squad which of our players would you say that about with any confidence? Anyway Pooch at least Wigan and Middlesbrough have started okay for you. Please let us win today and play well. (By the way I'm convinced that if a keeper can survive the warm-up they ridiculously go through these days HE'S FIT. Start the team with Tommy Lee and admit Joe Anyon would be better employed sitting next to me watching the horse racing!) RE: Wow ! - Devongone - 19-08-2017 I've just spent the whole afternoon with my fingers crossed, watching scores come through. I didn't dare look at the team selected. I haven't dared check how the game went. I don't care if I find out in a few minutes time we had three shots and 17% possession. I don't even care if I find out we have swapped Ricky German and Levi Amantchi for a packet of Daz. We won after seven successive league defeats! WE WON! (and Mansfield lost) RE: Wow ! - spireitematt - 19-08-2017 (19-08-2017, 18:18)Devongone Wrote: I've just spent the whole afternoon with my fingers crossed, watching scores come through. I spent all afternoon watching the scores come through as well. I looked at the team selected and was surprised but glad Tommy was in net. Worrying thing is Dennis has scored 3 in 4 games now and there is 2 weeks till the window shuts so we need to keep him as he could score 25-30 goals in this division. RE: Wow ! - Dancingwilldoit - 19-08-2017 Very scrappy game and could have gone either way but we scored 2 and won. Fores played well will admit Blue. Still not convinced about Ogrady. Great to see Tommy back and he seemed to solidify the defence. Sinnot MOM by a mile today. A win is a win. 3 points on the table thank god. RE: Wow ! - bluepooch - 19-08-2017 We started off poorly and i was thinking here we go again .slowly but surely we began to impose our style on the game the last 15 mins of the half .Of course two goals helped and made it a decent cushion to protect for the second half.i think we just about controlled the game although we tired as a team last ten mins . Ill rate them in a bit RE: Wow ! - Dancingwilldoit - 20-08-2017 First half hour 3-5-2 was shocking. For the first time I have known, he changed the formation during the game to 4 at the back and I couldn't make out if was 4-4-2 or 4-1-3-2 but whatever it seemed to allow us to string some passes together. If the first half hour had been against anybody other than a very poor Port Vale side we would have been 3 down. Yes we won but it was far from convincing. Really was good to see Tommy back in the nets. |
