I quite rated Stacey North among some terrible players of that era. (There again, I was living in Yorkshire at the time, saw all the Northern AWAY games, but only managed a couple of home games a season). Perhaps he was just crap at home! I knew Dixie Deehan - he used to use the same pub as me. He was great with the Villa, but didn't quite make it with WBA - about the same as record buy Gladys Mills. RE: Pointless - this week D - Beefy 1965 - 21-06-2017 You rated Stacy North Like to hear other peoples Opinion on this but will be debated when the N's are out It's all about opinions as you say but i be pressed IMO to find one worse. I have a cracker for E and he was nailed on the worst forward i have ever seen D How could we forget Graham Dorrans RE: Pointless - this week D - Bierzo Baggie - 22-06-2017 (21-06-2017, 20:36)Beefy 1965 Wrote: I have a cracker for E and he was nailed on the worst forward i have ever seen I think we have the same player in mind ....."E" makes Stacy North look like one of the all-time greats...
RE: Pointless - this week E - talkSAFT - 26-06-2017 Some great entries last week (for D), and it's good to bring back memories of some long lost heroes. Donervan Daniels, Ryan Donk (who I thought was going to be a big star at first) and Wayne Dobbins might have won but for DD's Derveldt who I'd never heard of, so - in my opinion - he's last week's winner. This Week E. My contribution is Peter Eastoe. Can't think of any other decent contenders, and I only watched him once. But I'm sure you can stretch our memories! RE: Pointless - this week E - Dingle-Dingle - 26-06-2017 Michael Wayne Anthony Ebanks. 7 games 83/84. DD
RE: Pointless - this week E - Kennyg - 26-06-2017 Two unusual names from me! Lateef Elford-Alliyu and Yassine El Ghanassi! Then there was our Welsh striker Robert Earnshaw RE: Pointless - this week E - Worldclassalbion - 26-06-2017 Trevor East ..... of Tizwaz fame!! And Derby County fan. Played in John Osbournes testimonial. We all did 'The Dying Fly' on the pitch ![]() I know it's cheating but it's a boster and NO GOOGLE used. RE: Pointless - this week E - Bierzo Baggie - 26-06-2017 With apologies to Beefy 1965 who I suspect was going to choose the same player .. Stewart Evans; The end of an era. Generations of Albion fans had been inspired by a succession of wonderful goalscorers. Ronnie Allen, Derek Kevan, Astle, Brown and Regis… looking back we had been spoilt over the years. Then in the mid-80s something changed. I remember watching Stewart Evans in horror and with an impending sense of doom. This was a tall, gangly man made of spare deck chair parts. Think Peter Crouch with a perm. And a lot less footballing ability. After just 90 minutes watching our new striker I realized we were really in the shite, perhaps for many years to come. In fairness, Goodman, Super-Bob and Hughes came along to ease the pain and Stewart Evens may well have been an effective target man for his previous club (Wimbledon) but I repeat… Ronnie Allen, Derek Kevan, Astle, Brown and Regis, ALL England internationals at some point. Seeing Stewart Evans at that time in an Albion shirt was a shock to the system and a sign of dark days to come. Sorry, I had to get that off my chest.
