RE: WBA in Nawf Landon - Double Match Thread - drewks - 26-04-2016 Another who gets his fair degree of stick is Gardner; I thought he gave a very good, energetic and intelligent performance yesterday ![]() ![]() Most players certainly turned up and showed us what they CAN do v Spurs in that 2nd half. Cracking result! RE: WBA in Nawf Landon - Double Match Thread - valpayne - 26-04-2016 I actually don't think we were that terrible in the first half. The job was to contain tottenham who are an extremely good side and we did it well apart from an extremely sublime free kick that all the pundits agreed was a nightmare to defend. GS on ssn said you can't blame Daws or WB for that the free kick was just too good. Yes they hit the woodwork but the first time was actually a tremendous save from Bo. Besides hitting the woodwork counts for nothing if they don't go in so I'm discounting that also. Mcclean and Gardner were superb at racing back and protecting our slower full backs so I don't want to hear anymore negativity about these two because whilst I agree they're not the most skilful they certainly put a tremendous shift in and did their jobs brilliantly they turned a 433 into a 631 and did it well. If you need anymore proof then look at the stats. Spurs had 2 shots on target none after the first 20 minutes and that is a seasons worst for them. So what did happen? Well quite simply they put a terrific free kick in caused mayhem and got their deserved lead but from that point on and particularly after the break and most notably a HT chat from TP we changed it and pushed up. Proof that TP can change tactics and against a side so young and skilful as Spurs this will leave you vulnerable to counter attack so again McClean and Gards would need to be on their toes. Then we delivered the killer blow with a set piece Yes a set piece again and a Big Full back rising above a smaller spurs side and nodding home a vital equaliser to all but kill spurs title challenge. Then we pretty much saw the game out comfortably. The facts are simple we have an ageing squad that doesn't have the pace or skill of many teams in this league TP plays to his teams strengths and as long as everyone puts a shift in we can upset teams and we can get results. Next season its vital that we look for younger more skilful players that is glaringly obvious but we can turn it on with this side and its just a shame we seem to be incapable of putting that level of performance against the lesser quality sides around us. I'd be delighted if we could upset west ham and Liverpool and after last night I have renewed hope we might just get a win a draw and then inevitably lose to Bournemouth reach 45 points 1 better than last season and probably finish 12th although my head says we will probably get 2 more draws end on 43 but its impossible to tell what we will do this season. For now though I'm just delighted with that performance and that we've taken that point last night and upset the apple cart :_) COYB RE: WBA in Nawf Landon - Double Match Thread - Beefy 1965 - 26-04-2016 I really want to beat Liverpool So TP and his players can hold hands and raise them in front of the Brummie Road. That will leave Klopp with egg on his face, Then we can all call him Klippity Klopp, Ah Karma ![]() RE: WBA in Nawf Landon - Double Match Thread - tidy - 26-04-2016 Great, gutsy display by the lads last night. Kinda weird that we can still be caught by Sunderland and Norwich. Having said that it's only mathmatical and a draw by either of them in the last 4 games makes us deffo safe for another year of torment... ![]() RE: WBA in Nawf Landon - Double Match Thread - valpayne - 26-04-2016 (26-04-2016, 16:49)Beefy 1965 Wrote: I really want to beat Liverpool? Let's face it the FA can't cope with complex and this was as simple as it can get! I also love the way the way the media spend time reporting the poor old alli gets targeted and provoked pochettino plea stating that players wind him up cos they know he'll react. Instead of concentrating on the fact that perhaps it was Yacob who was being provoked. Even in boxing punching below the belt is frowned upon and illegal and this was as close to below the belt as it gets. Control your temper Dele Alli You've been cold busted being a petty little thug. Kids look up to you. nuff said! |
