RE: Over 26,000 Hibs fans heading for Hampden! - 0762 - 08-03-2016 Well remembered ritchiebaby - I totally agree! You've gotta earn that as a bonus eh! RE: Over 26,000 Hibs fans heading for Hampden! - HerefordBull - 08-03-2016 Fortunately when they landed it was windy and raining, so home from home. ![]() RE: Over 26,000 Hibs fans heading for Hampden! - 0762 - 08-03-2016 Stubbs revealing this morning his reasoning for taking the short break in Spain:- 1. Take all the players to a very relaxed environment, well away from the Scottish media hype on the lead up to a cup final appearance. 2. They can go through their training routines and preparation on pitches that are in very condition (Hiibs training pitches are currently in a heavy condition) with no need change venues etc due to random interference from adverse weather. The explanation sounds reasonable but I'd comment that Hibs will be returning to play on pitches that are likely to be heavy anyway. Also the SFA's announcement re laying new turf at Hampden at the beginning of this week is intriguing to say the least. How can this new turf possibly root itself before this cup final on Sunday????? I do a fair amount of gardening, incl grass reinstatement/renewal, and I don't see that happening! RE: Over 26,000 Hibs fans heading for Hampden! - Trusevich - 08-03-2016 I'm wondering how many of you are aware of the reputation Stubbs has among the fitness coaching elite? Does this article from the start of the season still ring true at all? How damaging - injury wise - has his training been to the Hibs players over the length of the season? (The boy Verheijen seems to know what he's talking about by the way. Have a read of this if you're interested, he's got some great, sensible, modern views on footballer's fitness training - http://offsiderulepodcast.com/2015/07/16/interview-fitness-coach-raymond-verheijen-on-why-chelsea-are-better-prepared-than-manchester-united-or-arsenal/) Seems to me that Hibs are struggling with fitness at a crucial time of the season compared with Rangers, who put great emphasis on managing 'player loading' and as a result have the likes of Kenny Miller running his socks off for 90 minutes in a MotM performance against Premiership opponents, at the ripe old age of 36. It's also been vital in preserving the condition of the players we have to rely on week after week - the likes of Wallace, Tavernier and Halliday. Be interested to read your views, guys. RE: Over 26,000 Hibs fans heading for Hampden! - hibeejim21 - 08-03-2016 Last time we came back from a training camp in spain was great eh ? RE: Over 26,000 Hibs fans heading for Hampden! - Trusevich - 08-03-2016 Aye, you got humped 6-2 by Rangers. ![]() RE: Over 26,000 Hibs fans heading for Hampden! - 0762 - 08-03-2016 (08-03-2016, 15:32)hibeejim21 Wrote: Last time we came back from a training camp in spain was great eh ? Although I'm not greatly enamoured with this Spanish break, I must comment that the circumstances were different for Hibs La Manga pre-season prep leading up to the Rangers match in the thingummy cup! I attended that match at ER Stadium and one glaring aspect that came out of this match was the fact that fitness levels of Hibs players appeared to be much lower than those of Rangers at that current time and Stubbs admitted that was the case in the bar after Hibs AGM in December. We use SM University sports scientists and other highly qualified sports advisors who set the training routines/regime to gradually raise our players' fitness levels up to full match fitness and he admitted that had not been achieved at that time and also that's why certain players didn't get a game either! These advisors also deal with the most effective methods to tackle players' injuries and rehabilitate them as quickly as poss to get them 'back up to speed'. Different football club, different prep techniques and time durations set out to cover the early start to the season and I'd say sometimes some matches have to be sacrificed in order to achieve that goal. . IMO unimpressive but that scenario is very different to the current one! Also did Hibs not travel to La Manga before the Scottish Cup final v Celtic? They're certainly undeterred when it comes to this kinda arrangement in Spain - I wouldn't mind tagging along to relax and 'chill out' particularly at this time of the year! Roll on to the spring weather eh! I couldn't believe how tired we looked after 70 minutes at ER on Sunday. Actually being there as opposed to TV shots highlighted our players attempts to get round the field off the ball. I have a feeling the play offs may be 4 / 6 games too many for a very tired looking side. Going for a few days training in sunny Spain is not going to be the answer. Add to that Dylan McG is unlikely to get through a full 90 minutes and things don't look too rosy. A more concerning point coming out of the last paragraph was that Stubbs failed to react on 70 minutes with subs when everyone in ER could see that a number of players legs had gone. ![]() RE: Over 26,000 Hibs fans heading for Hampden! - 0762 - 08-03-2016 (08-03-2016, 14:17)exeterhibby Wrote: Fortunately when they landed it was windy and raining, so home from home. http://http://www.accuweather.com/en/es/la-cala/2328533/weather-forecast/2328533 It didn't last very long exeterhibby!
