Can't argue that the shirt pull wasn't enough to pull him off his feet but this is the modern game. Nah, sorry Squirrel - completely disagree. 'This is the modern game'? What - cheating? No place for it at all, whether it's a player from Chelsea, MU, or one of ours. He WAS a cheat because the shirt pull didn't have any effect on him losing his balance, so he tried to cheat. Ideye not getting a penalty v West Ham is completely irrelevant. Rooney cheated. Sess cheated. Hate all cheats and he (Sess)'s gone right down in my estimation, although I don't suppose he'll worry too much about that. RE: WBA vs Southampton - Match Thread - Squirrel Regis - 01-03-2015 Drewks, You are right, the debate will rumble on and on but there was contact-shirt pull. It wasn't enough to fall over so yes he was trying to exaggerate the contact and morally that is cheating. But you could watch that(or any) game and anywhere on the pitch if a player feels contact he goes down. Several of our defenders did it when under pressure to get a free kick. That's cheating too. RE: WBA vs Southampton - Match Thread - Slick_Footwork - 01-03-2015 Interestingly, on the same match of the day, Shearer and co were saying that Vokes should've gone down for Burnley and that it was a mistake on his part not to go down when fouled. Yet, on the same show, Sess was labelled a cheat for doing exactly that. Going to ground when pulled. It's debatable if it's okay or wrong - but the pundits are just as inconsistent as the referees. Last week for example, the pundits were discussing if Lescott should've been booked or sent off against Sunderland. IMO, the contact from Lescott wasn't even worthy of a foul - but none of the pundits debated the award. None of them labelled Graham a cheat when he went over when 'bushed' at most and was waving his imaginary red card. Was the contact from Lescott a lot heavier than what Sess received from Clyne? IMO, neither contact was heavy enough to send a football sprawling across the ground - yet in last weeks incident, Graham going to ground was absolutely fine. RE: WBA vs Southampton - Match Thread - Squirrel Regis - 01-03-2015 Slick, Well said. I do feel for refs who are being conned by players but look at the penalties being given for handball(how many have we had given against us lately!!) you see one given and the pundits say well his hand was raised and then you see exactly the same in another game and they say it wasn't a penalty !! Still we are going to stop up and thankfully it won't be relying on decisions. C O Y B - being on the Villa ! RE: WBA vs Southampton - Match Thread - BaggieMan - 01-03-2015 It was embarrassing seeing an Albion player try to cheat so blatantly. Sadly, Sess is a cheat and anyone who suggests his dive was justified is barking mad. I don't want my beloved Baggies labelled a cheating team and nobody can convince me otherwise. Win at all costs but those must be fair costs. RE: WBA vs Southampton - Match Thread - BBB - 01-03-2015 I'm just glad we won. The rest is irrelevant now, unless Sess is banned. BBB RE: WBA vs Southampton - Match Thread - aries22 - 02-03-2015 Sess can only be dropped or fined by TP, not banned by the FA, because the referee saw the incident and took action by cautioning him. Only if the referee misses an incident can the FA take retrospective action. That's my understanding, anyway. Agree that Sess nor any other Albion player should try to cheat. Foster needs to cut out the time wasting too. RE: WBA vs Southampton - Match Thread - Borders Baggie - 02-03-2015 I remember Tony Pulis going off on one about diving while at Palace. He totally abhors simulation and if true to his beliefs, I'm sure Sess will have had felt his wrath by now. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26411295 It was blatant simulation. What will we be saying if a Villa player does the same thing Tues / Sat? RE: WBA vs Southampton - Match Thread - Salopbaggie - 02-03-2015 ![]() ![]() Joking apart, the biggest problem with the simulation is, for at least the next few games if Sess has a real foul committed against him in the box and it is not so blatant that you could see it from the moon, the ref will not give it in case he is diving again.
