RE: EUROS - hibeejim21 - 14-06-2021 As much as his position was all wrong (and he did similar in the first half) the bend on the finish was absolutely incredible. RE: EUROS - theo_luddite - 14-06-2021 It was one helluva finish however you look at it. Keeper never had a sniff and no keeper would have been on his goal line or even his 6yd line given where Scotland were possession wise a second or two before. He certainly wasn't picking his nose near the half-way line unless he can run 10x as fast as Usain Bolt. RE: EUROS - Lord Snooty - 14-06-2021 Bloody hell, Spaniards are boring. I get what they are trying to do but for all their possession they created less than a handful of real chances!! I get that Pep started this at Barca and now does it as Man City but his teams create chance after chance as well. Of course then you get Sweden, a team who seem to be the masters of defending a 0-0 draw!!! RE: EUROS - Lord Snooty - 15-06-2021 It's like watching Town. Pass, pass, pass. Get nowhere. RE: EUROS - Devongone - 15-06-2021 Having spent several seasons keeping goal behind a team that played a massive offside trap just our side of halfway I can assure there is no justification for a keeper standing way out of his box. Anywhere between penalty spot and and the edge of your box you're ready to win any race to clear an ambitious through ball AND get back to your goal line if some clever sod wallops it from halfway. The impressive part about Schick, as Fabregas remarked, was that the ball going away from him not towards him. The bend and the distance are much easier with the ball rolling gently back towards you aren't they? If Marshall were up to the Euros would he be at Derby County? RE: EUROS - ritchiebaby - 15-06-2021 I must admit to feeling really sorry for Hungary. Up to about 10 minutes from the end, they had played a perfect defensive game. They didn't press high up the pitch, they were happy for Portugal to have lots of possession and they looked comfortable and in control for all the second half up to then. Then Portugal's first goal was from a deflected shot, which came from a deflected cross, both cruel to the Hungarians. An anonymous Ronaldo took full advantage with a huge boost to his confidence to finish the game off. I sincerely hope Steve Clarke and his players were watching how it should be done, although I'm sure Scotland don't have the players to do it. RE: EUROS - Lord Snooty - 15-06-2021 How on earth can France, Germany and Portugal be in the same first round group? ![]() RE: EUROS - St Charles Owl - 15-06-2021 (15-06-2021, 22:24)Lord Snooty Wrote: How on earth can France, Germany and Portugal be in the same first round group? The seeding for the draw was based on the ranking during qualification, the better your record in qualification, the higher your ranking. In that Germany were ranked No4, so went into Pot one. France were No7, so were the top ranked team in Pot 2 and Portugal were ranked No13, so again top ranked in their Pot. Its was just the luck of the draw that saw them pulled out from their different pots to face each other. RE: EUROS - Lord Snooty - 16-06-2021 But aren't Portugal the holders? Surely they should've been in the top pot. I know it's a bit late to be commenting on something that happened months ago but........... Crazy! |
