RE: WBA 2018/19 Xfer Window - (Final Day) Championship Rebuild - Slick_Footwork - 19-09-2018 (19-09-2018, 09:11)turkeydinner Wrote: Wondering if you lot have stumbled over this article makes some interesting reading! The article is funny because the scout is talking like he's some sort of genius, uncovering a gem. Yet everyone knew about Van Dijk at Celtic, everyone was looking at him ![]() Southampton paid £15m for him, which was a lot of money at the time considering he had only been playing in the SPL and was unproven. We wouldn't pay that sort of money for anyone back then. That year we paid £8m for James Chester, which was a massively outlay for us at the time, so there's no way we could've afforded Van Dijk. Obviously in hindsight, he would've been worth the money. But Jeremy Peace always operated a tight ship and never sanctioned big money gambles. I'm sure this scout wasn't the first to recommend a player out of our price range and get annoyed when we wouldn't shell out the cash. Southampton had just sold Lovren for over £30m, so they had the money to gamble. RE: WBA 2018/19 Xfer Window - (Final Day) Championship Rebuild - Beefy 1965 - 21-09-2018 Tim Nash the Wolves correspondent has just tweeted this, he works for Wolves at the E&S so may be on the wind up but as a journo doubt he could do that.? Ex- @Wolves winger @sakobakary26 looks set to be announced as @WBA's latest signing. Sako, 30, underwent a medical at Albion earlier this week. A free agent, he turned down a new deal at @CPFC after his contract ended there this summer and has moved back to the West Midlands. I’m struggling to work out why we need another winger RE: WBA 2018/19 Xfer Window - (Final Day) Championship Rebuild - WBA-Josh - 21-09-2018 I think Sako would be good if he can keep his fitness and form. The problem though is the shape that we play doesn't require a left winger and if Moore ever decides to go back to a back four, we have plenty of players to play in the wide areas. In the 10 area we have Barnes, Hoolahan and Morrison and we have three strikers so no real place for him in those positions. Right now we still need a good right back and there are players available without a club at the moment. All Big Dave has to do is look outside of the UK. Two good bets currently are Dennis Diekmeier formerly of Hamburg and Míchel (Míchel Macedo) formerly of Las Palmas. Josh your spot on again with your post (as normal) As BD likes older players - Why couldn't Glenn Johnson come in and fill the RB position if needed. He used to be as good as anyone. Not sure about his last few years - I'm aware he had a knee injury at Stoke, but thought he had recovered from that? RE: WBA 2018/19 Xfer Window - (Final Day) Championship Rebuild - Beefy 1965 - 26-09-2018 Sako ready to sign .............. http://c.newsnow.co.uk/A/955924673?-11200:789 Good news in a way , The bad news is that Demari Gray could be out for the season prompting a near certain recall in January by Leicester for Harvey Barnes ![]() RE: WBA 2018/19 Xfer Window - (Final Day) Championship Rebuild - talkSAFT - 26-09-2018 (26-09-2018, 00:36)Beefy 1965 Wrote: The bad news is that Demari Gray could be out for the season prompting a near certain recall in January by Leicester for Harvey Barnes Let us pray they rap Rondon't in some cottonwool.
