Whilst the abandoning of the transfer windows sounds, on the face of it, a positive step forward, would that not present wealthier clubs in obvious danger of relegation, the opportunity of them 'buying' survival at the expense of the less prosperous clubs ? This scenario could be applied over all leagues and particularly those clubs owned overseas with wealthy sponsors.

To an extent, the January window already reflects this situation and perhaps, if we do stick to having such a period for doing transfer business, it should be limited to the entire closed season from mid-May to the start of the following season.

The other issue that clouds the process is the involvement of agents who juggle their clients or potential clients between clubs and adds to the complexity of the process.

Apparently Olsson's car got stuck in a snow drift by Coventry?? He did apparently arrive but way too late.

I should say a rogue snow drift!!

Why can't they just limit the number of transfers DURING a season to, say, 3? If more are needed because of injuries in a goalkeeping position, for example, that's an Emergency Deal to be sanctioned by the PL. The squads ARE 24 (or is it 25?) strong, FFS!!
All other transfers to be completed outside the season - get yer squad ready for the season and then that's basically it, apart from 3.

Simples.

Anybody else worried that Pulis has not made any comment on our transfer dealings so far?

I'm not "worried" at all. The bloke took the job without any such conditions, and he's just got to get on with it.
Presumably he didn't ask for the credentials of the Scouting/Acquisition Staff at the interview, and the Cole & Olssen situations were out of the Club's control, and I've no doubt at all that Pulis would have had some input to which players he wanted to bring in.
Peace would have said to any interviewees "You've got upto £20m (or whatever) to spend in January, but what would your reaction be if we couldn't actually spend a penny?" Pulis would have had the opportunity to say "If that's the case, I'll be off." which, presumably, he didn't, else he wouldn't have been given such a good well-paid job.
Pulis isn't The Messiah - he's just the best candidate that was available in December. It's early days but, so far, he hasn't exactly turned us around as yet. Just hope I'm being my usual pessimistic self.

Nah, what's to say? other than Wet Sham are Run by amateur barrow boy wankers, and Olsson can't drive without hitting a 'Rogue Snow drift'

No excuses now is there? We have 2 quality Midfielders in, in Fletcher and McManaman so we gotta do it with the current crop who IMO are more than capable Thumb up

I will admit to being slightly confused by the Olsson incident.

I had understood that so long as an intention to complete the purchase of a player had been submitted by 11pm it was possible to complete after that time, up to maybe 1am.

The fact that there was an exceptional circumstance such as break down surely this would have been cover for Olsson to arrive late and complete. It must be that the medical has to have been complete before 11pm and that would allow the rest of the process, paperwork etc to be completed beyond 11pm.

Not at all. If he walks out like he did at Palace then he won't get another PL job - he will be fully aware of this.

At the very least he could have made a public welcome to Fletcher joining the squad.
