RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (10 August) - BaggieSteve - 14-08-2017

I'm a bit confused on the Chadli situation. Some reports indicate that Pulis is willing to sell him to raise transfer funds. I was not under the impression that we are so short of funds that we are willing to sell one of the few creative players we have but rather that our problems stem from an unwillingness to pay a stated transfer fee so that we don't manage to complete them. To be fair, I think that Chadli has been a bit like a firework that starts brightly but then quickly fizzled out so losing him should not be a major problem but we would need to replace him with a creative player. Selling Chadli and replacing him with a defensive midfielder would not, I believe, be a smart move.

I won't be sorry to let him go, Steve. He looked good a year ago, but has hardly impressed in 2017. If we can get £20m surely we can spend the 20 + what's left of the 40 on a good no.10. I'd let Rondon go, as well, as HRK is just as good, and if the Chinks still want him take the money. I know we'll be showing a big fat wallet when it comes to buying, but neither of those 2 are up to the mark that we want (imo) so just for once we can bring someone in at an inflated price.
I'm slightly worried, though, about johnny Evans as we're still making noises about another Centre Half - unless we're going to play 5 at the back.

I agree with you, Talksaft. I think he's been a disappointment overall. I'm not sure whether this is due to how and where Pulis plays him but, considering the fee we paid for him - a lot for a club like the Albion - he's not delivered. I value Jimmy Morrison's contribution far more than Chadli's. As regards Rondon, I keep desperately hoping there is a great striker in there but I'm probably realising there isn't. Having said that, I don't have the same regard for HRK that you may have so I'd prefer to keep Rondon than him but Salomon will have a greater resale value so he would likely leave first. I really feel we need another striker, with or without Chadli's leaving. As we are still looking for another centre half, I'm assuming this is either because Pulis sees Dawson as his right back, which I think is a waste, or because he feels he can't rely upon GMac's fitness over a whole season. I'm hoping it's nothing to do with Evans who, I feel, is the one guaranteed selection in the back four.

Beefy, I think you're right, this guy was never going to sign for us although the only thing West Ham have over us is the salary they'll pay him.......that, and a club discount on all porn products, courtesy of their owners.

Nothing happened again today Sleeping Oh well still 17 days left to go of the window, so plenty of time. Hmm I seem to remember saying that about 19 days ago about all the players we were going to have for the start of the season.

Pulis is said to be hoping to make two more signings before Saturday’s game away at Burnley, regardless of whether Chadli leaves or not.
