Who said the club hadn't stated a price ? I'd imagine in negotiations Rangers will know full and well how much he is available for. If they aren't willing to meet the price should either move on or test their resolve on the last day.

He was the Scottish U19 captain, and has played 25 times for Dundee Utd's first team at the age of 20. If Dundee Utd didn't think he was worth the money, they could easily have simply not signed him. They got stung for the £204k because they thought we'd let him go for f*ck all.
St Johnstone are doing exactly the same thing - not letting their player go for peanuts. A natural solution will be found either way, and neither club will be unhappy at the outcome. That's the way negotiation works. Dundee Utd could take note.

I'd say they'll take as much as they can get and that means not stating a price - you might ask for less than the buyer would otherwise have paid.

Whatever amount he goes for - if he goes - will be the price. Not what these chumps on here want to guess about. If it was any team but us nobody would interested in the potential transfer fee.
His value, or lack of it, will be seen in the future.

The basics of a football transfer: two clubs agree a price and a player is sold, as long as he agrees to go.
Not two buffoons from Edinburgh are contacted for their less than valuable input on what the price should be then the sale goes ahead at the figure they plucked from their dubiously coloured sky.

Hint: if someone ever approaches you and asks to buy anything that you "own", don't tell them how much you want. Ask how much they will pay.
