RE: 2014-15 Second Half & January Transfer Window - Towinjustonce - 19-03-2015 Is he a winger ?? Yes why get him 2 months 2 late and it shows we must have no wingers in the development squad either. For me its a waste of money at this stage. I agree I'm not worried about what other teams think of us but if we want promotion and have to loan in there better players then it is better to stay onside with these clubs i.e Bamford at Middlesborough. If we loan in a player we should know if they are good enough and will fit properly into our team, playing style etc otherwise why bother taking them, to me that makes us look dozy. This is obviously not the way it happens or goes but for me from the outside looking in this is us.... Us: Can he kick a ball ?? Club: Yes Us: Where does he play ?? Club: Centre-mid Us: Great !! We will take him. (And our thinking) and play him left-wing ![]() RE: 2014-15 Second Half & January Transfer Window - St Charles Owl - 19-03-2015 According to the Wednesday website he is a winger, but I have seen him referred to as a midfielder in other places which could mean anything across the park, so we will have to wait and see!! Completely agree about the way we have loaned in the past. If we are going to loan in a player then first he has to be better than what we currently have and consequently should play most or all the games he is with us. Secondly, he has to be played in the position he plays for at his parent club, we are not responsible for changing a young player to a new position nor will he develop as the parent club wants him to if we play him elsewhere. All to often over the last few years we have loaned in players who are either not better than what we have or not played them right!!! RE: 2014-15 Second Half & January Transfer Window - Thurnscoe_OWL - 19-03-2015 we do have wingers in the development squad but one is just back from a long injury, another is out for the season and the rest are only 16/17 so probably not ready mentally for exposure to the Hillsborough crowd ![]() RE: 2014-15 Second Half & January Transfer Window - madsteve - 19-03-2015 The whole thing about loan players has changed over the last few years. Now, you need loan players to get promoted. In fact, it is often decided by who gets the best loan signings. That is why we have to be on good terms with Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd & Liverpool - they provide the best loan players. I think we all know why we have made this loan signing. Nothing to do with improving our promotion chances for next season, it is about getting a couple of wins to preserve SG's job until next season. RE: 2014-15 Second Half & January Transfer Window - Thurnscoe_OWL - 20-03-2015 maguire is very good at what he does. When attacking: get the ball, beat a man, cut inside, beat him again, cut inside, shoot from 50yards When defending: get the ball, beat a man, cut inside, beat him again, cut inside, lose it on the edge of your own box RE: 2014-15 Second Half & January Transfer Window - Maddix - 20-03-2015 I thought Maguire got us back into the game against Blackburn ![]() ![]() |
