RE: TP , Could This Be It ? - Slick_Footwork - 17-11-2017

Everything from TP's selections to substitutions to interview comments scream of a man who has lost the plot.

Don't get me wrong, he did a good job when he came in with Irvine's side. He managed to get a dross bunch of players playing above themselves. Kudos for that. It's obviously what he's good at.

But since then, he's spent an arm and a leg and we're much worse. On paper, we have accumulated a decent squad, yet we can't string a pass together on the pitch. Worst of all, we can't keep a clean sheet anymore. In the past, his 'success' was based on solid defending, but this season we're equally impotent up front yet come baring gifts at the back.

I'm not sure if he's deluded or trying to pull the wool over everyone's eyes with the 'victim of his own success' comment. By the same notion that getting a bunch of very average squad to mid table is 'success', not being able to buy a win with a good squad of players is 'failure'. Doing a good job in any industry years ago doesn't excuse doing a poor job now.

I just wish he'd be honest and talk some sense. His deluded, dull, patronising comments are just making me want rid of him more. Up until this season, I always had him down as a decent bloke, but even his interviews are starting to annoy me now.

I do get the impression that TP is expecting to be dismissed, so his most recent interviews and press conferences are focused upon preserving his legacy, a picture he paints that describes the journey of taking our club from the brink of devastation to an established Premier League team. I share the view of many on this site that recognises what he has achieved although I don't accept it has all been down to him; Roy Hodgson, I would argue, was more influential in establishing us because when he took over we were very much an embryonic PL club. I accept that when TP took over we were in a dire situation but that was the result of later managers wasting the work Hodgson had done. I just feel that TP has missed a golden opportunity to move the club forward on the pitch, despite his laughable claim that we are evolving. His previous excuses that he should be judged when he's had his own pre-season and transfer windows are long gone; he's had them and he's been found wanting. On the pitch we are going backwards; it's a bad situation when fans of other clubs pity you when you say you're a Baggies fan, they should be giving you grief, not sympathising.
As long as he's our manager/head coach, nothing will change. If we dismiss him, we may still get relegated but we may go down fighting and endeavouring to play football. This idea that TP always gets you out of relegation is only half the story; this season, he's put us into it. It's down to him, no ifs and no buts.
So, I do believe we need to change the head coach and take our chances.....I just hope that Allardyce is gainfully employed elsewhere before that happens

I should also have said that, whilst I, like many, struggle with his style of football and his seeming pig headedness in refusing to change it, I have a huge amount of time for him as an individual. His history seems to be one of hard work, commitment to very good causes outside football and genuine honesty & self deprecation. If only he would recognise that what he's doing is just not working, is desperately turgid to watch and needs changing, I reckon I could live with him as our manager. It's the complete lack of any remote possibility that things will change that is killing me.

I'd be amazed if he went for that - next to no money in it compared to what he could get managing a club. Speaks volumes about the Wales job when Coleman has left when his stock was genuinely high to move to Sunderland who are in a right old state. Obviously a move to get more money I'd imagine though.

Great appointment that for TP, he can have masses of time off, watch loads of other managers teams play football, May get some ideas and maintain his "never been relegated" moniker .... do it do it now.

Just looked at the league table ..... been a while since I had to scroll soon far down to find us ....... desperate times.

Pulis is a fire fighter but he can’t start one to save his life. Surely this has got to be it. I saw in the press that Mr Lai has flown over to watch this game.

RE: TP , Could This Be It ? - Zinman - 19-11-2017

OK, something has now happened that means Pulis will be sacked this week. A very strange set of circumstances that none of us saw coming, an amazing event as rare as all the planets aligning, but without doubt it's a very clear sign.

I'm not allowed to say what this event is just yet, but all will be revealed in something posted by another poster later this week.
